is there anyone who can just slightly clear up parses? Like I know it’s how well you do compared to other ofthe same class and spec. BUT in that boss fight , what is considered in your parse? Can someone clarify in bullet points like …
- positioning
-switching targets accurately ?
-ilvl gear
What goes into making your parse poor to almkst perfect
others can probably explain it better than I can
but basically parses are comparisons between you and others of your class. You can look at overall (ie, you against all other DH on any given fight) or by ilvl (you and all other DH of a similar ilvl).
While you can look at things like uptime on targets, interrupts, positioning, those don’t affect the parse number, it’s based on damage. (but as lorsaire points out in the link below, people parsing high are likely doing all of those things correctly)
here’s an older discussion on this matter - he explains it better than I can
Your parse refers to a couple of numbers on your Warcraft Log report. Both numbers are percentiles (one is overall for all players of your spec and it’s listed on the left of the report. The 2nd is for all players of your spec and gear level and it’s listed on the right of the report). Percentile means the percentage of scores in the group considered which you outperformed. For example, if you scored 50th percentile then your score was higher than 50% of the other scores. Put another way, consider a group of 100 scores, and yours was the best! That means that your score is better than 99 out of 100 scores (your score can’t be better than itself!) so you would be 99th percentile.

There no priority points. Just aoe the adds, tunnel and skip the mechcanic as long you don’t die, you will get good parses to get accepted into Mythic group. Also have your aoe talent and aoe gear set ready for add fights and demand tanks to pull everything together.
Tips on improving parses on each boss:
Talac: Target the volatile during phrase 2 even though the raid leader tell you not to. That is free DPS damage to increase your parse.
Mother: Demand the group to kill the boss on 1st room only, and if not to put you in the last group to switch room. If you’re not put in the last group then do not go when your group is called until the last group goes. Going to the next room is DPS lost not on the boss.
Fetid: Insist the group to ignore adds and just target the boss. The shorter the fight the better your parse is because of timewarp and cooldowns. If the boss heals, that is just more hit point for your DPS. The time lost switching targets hurts your parses.
Etc.
Do that and you will have a good parse score to show to your friends.

Edit: just noticed this thread got risen from the dead. God damnit.
Parses are based on raw dps. The factors that can affect your parse that are out of your control are:
-Gear that has dropped for you or been funneled to you (a mythic raider funneled bis trinkets is going to parse higher)
-The composition of your raid group, and how often you are getting buffed by aug/power infusion. Players who receive these buffs will likely parse higher and therefore push down players who do not have these classes in their comp.
-how effective your tanks are. In aoe fights cleave classes can parse with stupidly high dps if tanks position correctly.
-how good the rest of the dps players are. If the fight lasts longer, your dps will dip because the effective damage done is stretched over a longer period of time.
-Luck. Most classes have random proc effects that affect their rotation and priority. Tough luck if you don’t hit.
