[Raid] Mechanical Menagerie Tactics?

Just wanted to ask some general questions and make sure I understand this fight.

Cluck applies a 50% melee speed boost to all nearby allies (15yd range).
Overheat applies a 25% damage taken increase and AoE pulse fire damage on all nearby allies (also 15yd range).

Feel free to correct me on those.

I’m seeing people and guides saying Overheat is a damage reflect or that it (and cluck) can’t be ranged and that all bosses get it but that doesn’t appear to be true (according to logs/WoWhead).

So beyond stacking them all and just turbocleaving through them and hoping for the best (with strong healers/dps) would the optimal strategy be to have one tank one Squirrel/Chicken with the other on Dragon while keeping the dragon 15yds away from the others? Then having melee focus chicken/squirrel (higher health>interrupts) while ranged focus sheep/dragon (higher health>overheat 25% damage boost)?

Just trying to understand this better as my last raid group didn’t and didn’t seem keen on my suggestions.

Any information is appreciated.

Tank Dragon, Squirrel, Chicken together while moving around the edge of the room clockwise. Casters should be focusing Sheep whilst swapping to others to even out damage. When sheep casts the lightning buff on itself, stop hitting it. When dragon casts overheat, stop hitting those mobs. It was an easyish fight once we figured out what overheat was.

Why stop attacking them though instead of just moving melee out? This is overheat for the record:

Overheat

Overheating. All damage taken increased by 25% while radiating fire damage to all nearby enemies.

Edit: Just saying, seems like a good burst window for ranged.

where did u see this? it acts as a damage reflect

And for the record, when I check my combat log, I get hit by overheat every second, even when not dealing damage.

So my question is, where did you see it acts as a reflect?

Not beefing, just trying to understand the fight/mechs better

Its unlikely mechanics, your healers cannot keep up with the damage, the chicken thrashes for almost 2k damage in one swing at times

This was our issue. We had a full pre-BIS Meta Warlock tank on squirrel / chicken and he was getting absolutely destroyed. I was spamming him with Flash Heal & Penance and his health was still going down sometimes.

It’s dumb how much tank healing this fight requires. In the end, when we were finally successful (after 7-8 wipes), the Lock received over 120,000 healing in the fight. Ridiculous.

If your DPS is not great at avoiding unnecessary damage, you’re gonna have a real bad time.

if your tank was getting wonked, we ran one main tank on chicken and a ret on dragon/squirrel when needed.
