Raid Markers?

It’s been a long time I tried searching but I didn’t see anything about raid markers (skull, x, moon ect.) in vanilla, where they in 1.12 or was that much later?

I remember them in BC, but I don’t remember them in Vanilla content.

That said, they might have been added late (1.11/1.12) and I might just not remember.

You, sir, are correct. 1.11

Target markers (sometimes referred to as lucky charms ) are icons that [raid] leaders/assistants and [party] members can place over players and mobs. This feature was introduced in Patch 1.11

ok nice, it might be an idea to have some old school etiquette on what the markers mean before classic drops, less chance of it getting messed up (which it will lol)

I remember skull is first kill, I think x was second, moon was sheep and blue was trap/sap? anyone else remember, my memory is fuzzy on the subject.

I think skull and X are universally accepted as first and second kill respectively but in my experience all the rest were whatever the leader of the group called them out as.

In my experience it varied by server, generally.

These are the ones I know.

Skull, X - Kill order, never CC’d.
Star - Kill after X. If CC’d, it’s Sap or Shackle Undead.
Moon - Sheep
Square - Trap

Orange circle and green thing - Reserved for fight-specific uses.

We had them as of 1.10 I think it was… Orange circle, triangle, square, etc

The “circles” on the ground those were added in official capacity later.

But we did have a handy dandy little toy that put a beam of light on the ground, this we used before blizzard added the “area markers” officially later because it was so darn handy.

I always remember the Orange Circle being the “STACK HERE” icon, and would usually be placed on the raid lead or someone who else who was trusted to position themselves correctly so the rest of the raid could follow.

I know for a fact we had them because we used them on Garr… I think it’s Garr. Big rock guy with the exploding adds. Used almost every marker (or all of them) just for fun since we already had it on farm. Did make it a little easier though I admit. Now the markers you can place on the ground… those I don’t think we had, just target markers.

You have to have group leader to mark stuff in 5-man dungeons. They are easy to macro I think.

Yes, I always kept them assigned to hotkeys. It would suck playing without them after all these years. :slightly_smiling_face:

Orange Circle??? No one calls it “orange circle”

My guild always put the circle on the MT. “Condom for safety”

Exactly how I remember it as well. I miss having to use CC tools so much.

I could have sworn it was way earlier, like 1.6 or 1.8.

Edit: Oops didn’t mean to reply to your post as it’s not relevant. lol.

Great feature and I agree on the general use of them for kill, CC, tank etc

You mean “nipple”.

these dam kids and their spray paint, back in my days we used campfires to mark the ground.

If you play Private, Moon is sheep, Blue Square is frost trap. Generally speaking.
