Raid lockout trick broken or nerfed?

Icecrown Citadel - cleared up to Arthas on Normal, listed private group, joined with an alt, entered instance. When leadership passed to my alt, I attempted to change the raid difficulty but all options were greyed out both before and after kicking the original leader.
Logged back onto the original character and was also unable to change the raid difficulty.
Exited the instance, changed the difficulty, attempted to re-enter the instance and was denied due to having already defeated bosses on Normal.

Is this just broken because the level squish has borked Legacy Loot Rules, or has mount farming via lockout sharing been nerfed?

This has been effect for years. You can choose to do normal or heroic, you can’t do both. You got the locks messed up by transferring ownership of the raid and entering and exiting several times, making sure the entire group was locked out til next Tuesday. If you’re gonna start up a normal vs heroic raid, make sure you have completely separate characters making up those parties and don’t mix them.

I’m having the same issue.

I have a ICC 25N lockout on my main, which I share weekly with my alts to farm invincible. Today, I tried doing it and changing to 25H once I got the leader and entering the raid, but every option was blocked.

Can anyone confirm this please?

I have always waited until leadership passed over before going in. Then, go in on normal and swap to heroic. I have not tested this week, but I have been doing it the last few weeks. Not sure if that’s actually a problem, but like I said, I have not tested it this week.

I’m pretty sure Ulduar is the opposite. You want to go in and then let leadership pass over.

Same issue with ICC.
Shared lockout will not let me switch from regular to heroic like it used to.
I hope they fix this, it is mostly what I do.

Actually, some raid instances can be done once on Normal and once on Heroic each week. Firelands specifically is one I know of because I’ve done it that way many times. I assume it’s not the only one, but honestly don’t know of any others.

With regard to my original post, what I’m attempting to do is share a raid lockout with my alts so they don’t have to kill every boss in the instance just to farm the mount that drops from the last boss. This lockout sharing trick relies on being able to change the difficulty while inside the raid instance so the original “all bosses but one” lockout state is preserved. Since I cannot change the difficulty, it would appear that if I want 12 chances at the mount I’m going to have to kill 144 bosses instead of 23.

I was unaware of the firelands, but trying to save raid lockouts has always been weird. So perhaps you will have to kill 144 bosses instead of the 23.

Entering first did work for ICC. Never tried it the other way before. Good to know, might give it a shot if the lockout-sharing trick gets fixed although I honestly can’t see a benefit either way.
I do miss the auto-accept option, though. Would save time if I didn’t have to alt-swap quite so many times.

I’m having the same issue (as of this week) with my weekly ICC farming. I clear 11/12 25N on an alt, and then group with my other characters and switch to Heroic for Lich King, sharing the 11/12 lockout across my characters. It is not letting me switch between normal and heroic while in the instance anymore.

When I try to switch to Heroic outside of the instance, it gives me “You are ineligible to participate in at least one encounter in this instance because you are already locked to an instance in which it has been defeated.” error message when I try to enter the instance on heroic.

Hoping it’s just a bug since this I didn’t see this change anywhere on the patch notes

This doesn’t actually work - just tested.

Is there any blue post about this change? Or it’s just a bug they are going to fix?

That’s actually the point of my post - it used to work but now does not.

Anyone else also notice that ICC for some reason is considered a dungeon now? Only in that it’s affected by dungeon difficulty and not raid.
