Raid Length

Why do the developers insist on longer raids? One of the reasons M+ is so much more popular than raiding is because of the time investment required. They could solve this by splitting a tier into two 3-4 boss raids to decrease the time required instead of continuously pushing 8-10 boss raids and ending with a 15 minute encounter each time (no boss should last longer than 7 minutes in my opinion, I’m sorry, it just isn’t fun).

I miss those little 1 boss raids from old expansions too.

Citation needed. It’s far more possible Mythic Keystones are “more popular” (if they even are, that is) than raiding is because raids have a weekly lockout for loot whereas dungeons do not.

I mean it’s certainly possible it’s a combination of both.

Raiding just takes longer. Objectively, and that can be a turn off to players.

Cuz when they’re too short then people complain about that

You don’t have to do all the bosses at 1 time…

If you have an 8-boss raid, you can just run a few bosses one day, then come back another day and run the rest.

This raid was long ?

There’s a lot more downtime in raiding between bosses/boss attempts and a lot more organization required. I stopped raiding a few expansions ago because I just cannot bear the sound of most peoples voices on voice chat.

With M+ you can operate on your own schedule and in my opinion gearing up is better/easier.

Wiping 8 minutes into a 10 minute encounter :face_with_head_bandage:

It was short…and it was designed so it could be easily separated into 3 wings. Not sure what else the OP wants. Maybe they want to walk through an instance portal to get to each wing?

this is the major reason I don’t raid - I don’t want to spend anymore than 30 minutes in there. Ideally you could do one boss and minimal trash which would be more like 15 minutes. Then I would raid.

The raid length is fine. If they wanted to add an additional raid along with this one that was just a couple bosses that would be fine.

But a short raid as the main raid? Dumb idea.

I think raids are just fine.

A series of five or barely more fights spread over a few hours is a nice contrast to a 25-minute intense run with everything on the line.

Dungeon runs and raiding are different and that is terrific.

Why do people assume mythic+ is so popular? It’s “forced” content. People complain about it constantly. That whole “mythic+ saved the game” nonsense is just that. Nonsense. “Oh well I only play for mythic+” says some player. “I quit because of mythic+” says another.

This.

There are a lot of silly things that need to go.

  • Really long wipe runs.
  • Food buffs - why aren’t they instant like flasks or have the buff persist on death (I know of the embelishment, but this should be default)
  • Easier return to dungeon entrance in case you need summons (or a summon scroll for inscription - 1 scroll to summon 1 player)

Silly little things like that - that over the course of raid can add up to massive amounts of time.

There is a reason why folks keep their groups in queue even if they don’t need or intend to invite anyone (just so there is a pool to pull from if/when someone drops).

Little things like that would go a long way.

Im sorta with you I like the 8-10 boss raids, but I do wish side raids with 1-2 bosses would be added more.

Yeah, but people complain about everything.

Oh and also boss length had been creeping up.

Sylv was particularly egregious. Boring fight that was excessively long (phase 2).

I think I killed it 2 or 3 times, before I just stopped completely. It was just too long and annoying for an awful bow drop rate.

Sanctum in my opinion was among the worst raids they’ve ever designed and Sylvannas fight was one of the reasons
