So Morgan Day just mentioned in an interview that heroic week will only be for TWW S1, not the later seasons. That’s a mistake, and the justification is bad. Bringing heroic week back for TWW S1 was a great decision, actively choosing to make things worse for S2 onwards is baffling.
Having to lock M+ at lower levels is entirely a consequence of M+ loot itself being an abomination. Fix the actual problem, or just say screw it and release uncapped M+ alongside heroic because clearly fixing gear progression isn’t something the devs care about if they aren’t going to work towards fixing the damage M+ is doing and has done.
Heroic week is incredibly valuable for players for a variety of reasons, and devs as well.

For the devs, it gives a week of “free” data on class balance which they can actually react to before mythic opens (because they don’t want to disrupt the RWF by actually balancing the game in a timely fashion). Having to play an extra 2-3 weeks with joke specs like Amirdrassil Assassination/BM sucks.
-
Players get a chance to raid with the changes their classes may or may not have received, getting a feel for how things work. It’s unreasonable to expect people to do this on PTR, and heroic is a “safer” environment to do so.
-
Players don’t have to progress heroic while “their” difficulty (mythic) is open, because that feels bad
-
The above also adds extra stress to raiders and especially guild leadership. Making sure heroic clears are smooth rather than getting to experiment a bit, assigning loot well but not taking too long etc all cause unnecessary stress when they’re directly competing for raid time with the “real” difficulty.
-
For the people who care about RWF, heroic week also makes this better because it mostly quarantines heroic splits to heroic week and then once mythic releases, most of the guilds’ time can actually be spent there.
Probably other reasons I forgot as well, but really, keep heroic week.
