Raid Finder

How on earth are we supposed to get into lower lvl raids if we can’t use the raid finder until max (wth) lvl?

u use the start a group function in the lfg pane.

People don’t do lower level raids except to go back and solo them for transmog and mounts

I’m, talking about new player (Rag) lvl raids. And just so that you know, high lvl raiders are not the only players in the game.

I’m confused. You’re saying “lvl” do you mean LEVEL like the level of the character or “ilvl” like the item level of their gear?

I don’t think anyone implied that.

Are you referring to ilvl? You need to be level 60 to queue for raid finder (which you have judging by your post toon) but need a minimum ilvl of 185 (IIRC) for Nathria, 195 for Sanctum, 220 for Sepulcher. On fated weeks, you will need 230 ilvl.

You can buy 229 ilvl gear from the auction house, 226 gear for anima, and other BoEs of varying ilvl for a heftier price. Getting a legendary will also bump your ilvl considerably.

Misinterpreted. No, I’m not talking about ilvl. I’m asking about toon lvl. If my toon is lvl 31 (a little low I think), then how does he get into raids is what I was asking about. Using the group finder is not working, because it is greyed out. Does it unlock when I reach a certain lvl? I am asking for one of my alts; pick up old raids that I didn’t catch the first time through.

Raid finder can only be used once you are level 60 and only encompasses the raids of the current expansion.
A sort-of exception to this is timewalking raids, but these must be joined through group finder. You can do them starting at level 50.

You can run old raids below level 60, but you will need to manually form a group if you cannot solo them, and there is little interest in running them at-level. You cannot use the group finder tool until level 50.
You must be level 30 to enter raids spanning classic through Cata, 35 for MoP, 40 for WoD, 45 for Legion, and 50 for BfA.

edits to add and clarify things.

omg. ty so much. You answered every question I’ve had about this. It is unfortunate to have to manually form a group. Standing in Org shouting for hours to no answers seems like it would suck. lol. I guess new players are skipping them. ok. Thanks again!

No problem!

Given the way scaling in old content works, nobody does old expansion raids on low level characters as anything you’d want to acquire is either quickly superceded or just not worth the time. You can go back through them and clear / explore them on your own at max level.

One major exception:

But of course, that has nothing to do with Raid Finder

It sounds like high lvl toon solos is how we can see them.
