Raid Finder and Level 50?!?

Trying to figure out how I can complete the FOURTEEN raids that I’ve got stacked up in my quest log. I’m currently grinding the Legion quest line and would like to complete that before purchasing Shadowlands. Recently I was able to solo a raid (finally) and opened up the Zandalar zone. Yes, I’ve been to the Auction House and purchased whatever highest gear I could for my level 50 toon, but an iLvl of 88 ain’t gonna cut it.

I can’t use the Raid Finder to complete some of these quests because I’m not at max level to use it (I could obviously before the nerfing). I’ve tried searching the “Premade Groups” feature and unfortunately 99.9% of those are serving the Shadowlands raids or I have to wake up at 2am to get on a raid I need.

Is anyone else in this situation? What have you done to work those raids needed for further advancement? Did you just succumb and buy Shadowlands to continue working your old stuff?

You’ve gotta level to cap, then look for old raids in the group finder that people run for transmogs or achievements.

Old expansion content is considered legacy and you aren’t expected to fully complete it, and all associated raid content, before advancing to the next expansion. That’s been Blizzard’s stance on it for ages.

I feel you, in that I get how someone might want to fully complete the Legion quest line before moving on to the next expansion, but you unfortunately just can’t. You’ll have to pause, level to cap (and probably gear a bit), then you can go back and complete the old story lines.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I’m forced to buy Shadowlands. At least it’s on sale this weekend.

Yea, if you don’t already own SL this situation is definitely a bummer.

I guess your other option is to make your 60 friends (assuming you have some) carry you through haha. But yea, there’s never really been a good solution for legacy content.

For myself, I’m moderately ok with it. I’ve seen the alternative in the form of FF14, which makes you go through aaaaaaaaaaaall the previous expansion story to get to the current tier. Sometimes it’s nice to do it, but it’s also annoying to have to if you wanna play with your friends at end game.

This is probably one of those “there’s no one solution for everybody” type things I guess.

It’s this crap right here that is just one of the innumerable reasons people are leaving Blizzard for games that don’t torture the player base like Final Fantasy.

I am old-school, this is no way to run a business, if I had done sh*t like this to my clients I would’ve been filing chapter 13 within a week… and yet we just bow down and allow blizzard to continue ripping our souls right out through our a££¥les.

I know no one here understands how you’re supposed to treat customers because this has been the norm for the past couple of decades, but this sh*t ain’t right, and we should fight it tooth and nail.

While I agree with the rest of your post, and do feel that FF14 is a really great game, I must point out that it’s not all sunshine and roses here. With regards to story content, WoW and FF14 are polar opposites, and neither is a good solution imo.

WoW doesn’t let you finish story content in meaningful ways on your leveling journey, but offers you a paid boost so you can cap, then go back and finish it. FF14 doesn’t let you skip story content (all 120+ hours of it) on your leveling journey, but offers you a paid service to skip story and catch up to your friends.

I would say FF14 tortures its players every bit as WoW does in this regard. Neither approach is what I would consider player friendly.

Also, ya necro? lol
