I mean, there’s a clear path from WotLK 25H to current Mythic. Remember: Mythic is just a name that replaced Heroic, because Blizzard needed a 3rd difficulty after adding in the much easier Flex raid in 5.4, and then making both Flex and Normal Flex, meaning Flex was a useless word.
And I would argue that ICC 10/25 heroic was much more accessible to more players that mythic ever has been. Mythic raiding has never been or never will be an accessible form or raiding to a casual player and because of that will never be justified dev time.
It was more accessible because you could experience the same mechanics on 10/25 H, I got that CE during MoP then Blizzard added mythic and my guild can’t reach 20+ to even check those new mechanics, it’s awful.
Cutting Edge literally is the reward for finishing Heroic then/Mythic now, showing that the difficulty was renamed, not added.
Mythic now is WotLK 25H and Cataclysm/MoP Heroic.
Further proof : Heroic Garrosh in 5.4 is literally the Mythic Garrosh fight right now in the game. Heroic Garrosh right now in the game doesn’t have his 4th phase, meaning he’s in fact, Normal Garrosh from 5.4.
Like I don’t know what else you need to understand Mythic isn’t a new mode. It’s the old Heroic.
So if you found 25H Lich King accessible : guess what, Mythic is as accessible now.
There’s always Wrath Classic to relive the glory days of having people to play with. Very few of those pesky mechanics to fail and get bullied over like in modern wow.
TBC. You still needed to use CC. But there wasn’t an overwhelming layer of exceptional nonsense you needed to do in order to just play the game besides one time attunments.
