So I’m currently in a guild that does Loot Council for loot distribution. This is not a post about fair vs unfair, but more about fun vs unfun and bis + knowledge of future loot ruining excitement and lowering the # of items that certain classes can get (mainly healers) until X phase.
I’ll use a specific item as an example, take “Choker of the Firelord” (from Rag).
This neck piece is basically listed as BIS for all caster classes during Phase2 (mages, locks, priests, druid, shaman, pally). But because of future knowledge about items that will replace this item for healing classes, this item is not even an option and people don’t even think about handing out this item to healers.
The problem is that most items for healers that are BIS during X phases share a slot with dps classes.
This creates a situation where healers are denied loot (outside of class loot) for months (because each phase will last months) and possibly even more time, if certain items don’t ever drop, in future raid encounters.
Basically nowadays, people are too concerned about getting marginal improvements from one piece of gear to the next one, just because is BIS for X number of phases, instead of allowing everybody to share the loot just because of the time invested in the game.
Not sure if this is the case in every realm and/or guild, but in my current guild, healers (more specifically priests) won’t really get any gear (outside of 1-2 items) from raiding until phase 5+.
Is this the case in other realms and guilds? Is this the current mentally of WoW classic players and , if so, has knowledge of future loot, in a way, ruined WoW classic for certain classes.
