Raid-Aug targets

Hello

I am seeking some wisdom from much bigger Dragon brains than me.

Aug in raid is fun and I am looking to squeeze more damage out of it. I heard there can be a 20-30% dps increase playing Min/Max style over just buffing the top 4 dps and I want to do my best. So I am here to learn:

I understand rotating Ebon Might onto classes/players who are using thier offensive cds is the best way to play, but how to you do this in a pug setting? Guild runs is much easier as there are logs and I can see/plan around how others. How does one watch other players cd usage in a pug setting where you dont have logs/research to see?

For example
Demo locks burst around Tyrant, which if cdr done right should be 1.5 minute cd.
So demo lock gets Ebon Might 1 (on pull) and Ebon Might 4 (1.5minutes in), Ebon Might 7 (3 minutes in)

Example 2
Druids incarn is 3 minutes (before cdr) so Ebon Might 1, 7, ect

Who and how do you pick buff targets in a pug setting and which cds do you prioritize? I understand trying to watch them all, but having issues picking targets and getting the right times down.

Thank you for any insight and help =)
Have a great day!!!

I mean, at the end of the day aug in a PuG is just going to be less optimized than an organized group.

A few basic tips I can give though, assuming all DPS are performing similarly, is to know which specs are good and when;

Unholy DK and Demo Locks are great buff targets on pull/lust. After 30-40 seconds let the buff fall off and buff more consistent specs that are strong at 60/180 seconds etc (times when you’re not using your breath).

A decently performing hunter is good sustained dmg and also good 2 minute burst. If you have one performing really well, you can generally keep your buffs on them after pull/lust and get good results. Ret pallies will give similar value.

Really in a PUG there will generally be clear standouts and it’s probably the move to just buff them. It’s not worth your time going through logs between pug pulls to see who is good when, this is more for min/maxing in a set group environment where it’s worth the time investment because the roster is consistent.

If you’re playing aug in a pug, I’d personally recommend trying to focus on maximizing EM uptime and your own personal performance on the spec versus over-analyzing pug dps you will likely never play with again. I generally just find the 4 most well geared dps and start by buffing them, and then adapt to who looks to be performing the best.
