Rage whispering in this game has got to go!

Just wondering if i’m alone in thinking that blizzard has got to do something about rage whispers in this game. A bit of background about myself, I’m a decent player, I do my best to push at least Duelist 2100 in pvp every season and get Keystone master in pve. It’s what I love about WoW. Just doing the hardest content to get the best gear. What I hate about it is the amount of toxicity and overall the rage whispers. omg I cannot tell you how many times i’ve gotten rage whispered this season because a mythic+15 group fell apart.

Or a Duelist 2100 push just didn’t go so well and I decided just to go my separate way. yes I know that I can just throw that person on ignore but at that point the damage is already done. That person who you kicked from your group has whispered some extremely hurtful / disgusting things to you or about your family and one can only feel angry and hurt about those things that were said. The damage is done. Also, on multiple occasions, ive had a player continue to whisper me on alts saying to me things that would make even a hardened criminal blush. No joke!

In conclusion, Blizzard please do something about rage whispering. Thank you.

I support something being done about this. The report feature not only doesn’t seem to address this, but as you say, does too little, too late.

It sucks and that is why I’ve been reluctant to do group content in this game. Sadly the most you can do is report and ignore. At least they can’t make alts to keep spamming you now.

I’ve ruined a fair amount of people’s chances at joining RBG teams just for acting stupid like this, they’re usually the type to throw a game too so better to know ahead of time.

Ngl, I used to corpse camp my own faction in the FFA PvP zone in Bastion till they rage whispered me intentionally, then i’d report em/open tickets after they’ve said a good amount.

Not tryna sound crazy, but “purging” the game of players prone to these behaviors was a satisfying passtime.

People rage in Level 10 dungeons too.

This is not true. Just recently a player who I ignored continued to rage whisper me on alt after alt after alt. I almost ran out of room on my ignore list.

The thought of someone yelling at me really quietly, is kind of funny :stuck_out_tongue:

Raging has been a part of the game forever, because you are dealing with human beings who are, as a race, somewhat prone to it at the least hurdle. However, personal abuse is not acceptable. Report them, ignore them, and they continue to be a problem, see the following:

Reporting Ongoing Harassment in World of Warcraft - Blizzard Support (battle.net)

PS: they have instituted an interesting new system for the upcoming Classic Season of Mastery:

  • Chat reporting feedback improvements are available.
    • Added in-chat confirmations for players who report misbehavior in chat, as well as for those that someone may report.
    • When reporting a player for verbal harassment or other disruptive chat in-game, players will receive a confirmation when there’s an action against the other player.
    • When your behavior has moderately changed for the worse, you may receive a warning message so that you can modify your behavior before receiving a penalty.
    • When acutely inappropriate behavior from a player is observed, the system may skip a warning and take immediate action.
    • /ignore now blocks characters on the ignored player’s WoW account.

No. Once you start doing harder content in this game like m+15s-20s and pushing high ratings in pvp like 2100 and above, the toxicity is almost unbearable. I have so many screen shots of the stuff that has been rage whispered to me. Really gross and disgusting things about what they were going to do to my family and really disturbing stuff like that. Some people in this game I believe are truly crazy in the head. it’s NOT funny at all.

You dont actually need to screenshot things, Support is able to view chat logs and observe communications between players.

Well Blizzard isn’t going to get rid of whispers any time soon because of rage whisperers.

But you can put them on ignore. Or turn off Whispers. Or just report them if they crossed the line.

Oooooooor… one can ignore all what the person said, not let it affect them and just move on.

Report them for harassment or language then.

Run with friends and/or guild?.. :man_shrugging:

You don’t need to screenshot them, since blizzard has access to the chat log.

Oh yea, I meant the mental image. I don’t do any content anymore so I don’t really have to deal with any of that anymore.

People need to vent their frustrations.
If You take away that you end up with a more toxic environment which becomes harder to detect.

i envy you.

It has its ups and downs. No raging but also not much to do. I’m one who comes and goes with breaks between patches. Just returned last week to do the 9.1 story.

While you can’t control other people’s behavior, you can control your reaction to their behavior.

Realize that these are people who have extremely poor emotional control and processing capability, which is why they only know how to throw their anger at people instead of understanding where their anger is coming from, and how to improve themselves and the situation.

Therefore it’s not worth your time to take the situation seriously because there’s no common ground or solution to work towards. I ignore and report on the spot, or if I’m feeling spicy, I’ll egg them on because there’s something really funny about seeing a grown adult acting like a child almost as if someone didn’t let them buy a Cadbury chocolate at the supermarket.

A couple of weeks ago, I had been pushing with a friend of mine. I’m in the same boat involving getting my regular duelist. I had been teaching someone else, and someone elected to message me, call me multiple slurs, said they hope I have violent things done to me, etc. While I wish it didn’t happen, I don’t think Blizzard can actually do something about it though.
