Radiant Echoes Event: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

First off the ugly (These are not my own complaints except #1)

  1. Bosses deciding to randomly not spawn. (This should be addressed)

The Bad:

  1. Event timer intially being set at 90 minutes, then 60 the following week and 30 minutes the final week.
  2. Not “alt-friendly”
  3. Weekly quest instead of daily
  4. Missing a boss with limited time to play is harsh (not sure if this will be alleviated by the time decrease per week, still bad form though)

The Good:

  1. Event timer let’s you plan around it without a waiting game. (You can do things besides sit in Dalaran for over an hour)
  2. Alt friendly if all you want is to level.
  3. For once an event can’t be spammed leading to people complaing about it not having enough rewards or being bored after a few days.
  4. I like the idea of not being able to get everything conceivable for an event on 40 characters. (I actually have to choose which alt I want stuff on)

I know people are going to disagree with basically everything after the bad, but thats alright. We all have our opinions. If you have more to add to either, drop it in the comments. If you’ve got nothing new to add, please dont bother, there’s tons of posts already for you to recite the same issues that are well known (or go make a post  ).

This is debatable since during the 1.5 hours of waiting, you could gain more levels just leveling in the outside world. And since the quests are only daily, that big xp is only 3x a day. Unless boss grants a lot. I dunno, have to test more.

With point one onthe positive side, the problem is that the content available outside the event is stale and not fun for most players. This prepatch should have had people losing track of time because they were having so much fun. It ends up causing the opposite.

I found hopping into groups and just hitting the mobs with them was pretty fast leveling. You may not get the quest, but the xp income is alot faster than regular open world since there are people farming the mobs.

Wait, wait, wait. The npc’s near the portals in each zone… are they actually weekly’s?!
I assumed they were dailies (how silly of me). Oh come on Blizzard, are they hurting anything?

I’m sorry but I have never participated in a pre-patch event where I was so engrossed that I “lost track of time”.

I think those are some hefty expectations.

I’ll have to see if there are leveling group organizing then. I can’t find people just grinding the mobs after the first couple hours of the first day. That was cool then tho.

Indeed they can. Thus why I asked instead of demanded. I made the post to see how other people feel outside of the known is all. Give respect, get respect. (I gave mine, just ask I get the same in return)

I get your good points, but the fundamental problem for me is that it’s too much disruption to my schedule. I cannot plan my life around this, nor would I if I could.

And if you miss the boss fight any given time, you may be done for the day, and you are left with really no way to get anything out of this.

Not much of that going on. The mobs are not worth it. I have been finding it difficult outside of the event to find any groups to level an alt with. During the even I am using a max lev alt every time for the weekly 1.5k RM reward. Got enough for the events I do to cover the entire rest of the week. Leaving my leveling alts out in the cold.

The Legion one was like that. That aside, there has never been a prepatch that followed 2 horrible and 1 mediocre expansion with Microsoft buying them out in between.

The event should be every 30 mins because it takes 20 mins to complete it and then you’re left with pitiful farming slavery tactics.

The prepatch event would benefit heavily from more incentive to grind the mobs between boss fights. Maybe an increase in currency drops. A little RNG spice to it maybe. Hell, even give a chance to drop the epic gear.

That way, there would be plenty of groups all over to hop in and level alts with.

Personal experience on my own here, I was able to just join the premades right before the event started. Most people left, but there were usually 3-4 who stuck around and just killed stuff. Also saw a few premades just for leveling.

I haven’t tried but I imagine there are larger groups you can find in the group finder too.

If from time to time another special rare elite mob could spawn with a chance at more loot. That would make the event far more interesting and farmable.

I added this in under the bad. And a little side-note depending on how the weeks change it.
