Radeon VII Performance Issues

Hi all,

I’m hoping someone here will be able to help me out with this…

Just upgraded my system to a Radeon VII from a GTX 1070 and for some reason my performance in game is just relatively terrible. Unless I was in a capital I pretty much would never leave 144fps with the 1070 but my R7 will maybe max out at around 110, and average like 80fps no matter where I am which makes no sense.

Watching my system usage for whatever reason the Radeon VII will go to 1800mhz in other games but NEVER will for warcraft it will bounce in cycles between 250mhz and around 1300mhz. Especially if I have Youtube open on my other monitor it feels like for some reason it’s just juggling the video application that’s getting priority of the GPU.

My specs are:

Ryzen 7 2700 (non x) at 4.1ghz 1.425
Asrock X470 Master SLI/ac MB
16g Corsair Vengence RGB 3200mhz
Radeon VII running 19.3.3 and latest Bios Revision
1tb ssd (that WoW is on) and 2tb HDD
Windows 10 Pro Version 10.0.17763 Build 17763
DxDiag at the bottom

Things I’ve already tried:
Reinstalling Radeon Drivers, tried 19.3.3 twice and 19.2.2 once.
Used DDU to totally remove the 1070 drivers.
ran the game with DX11 and DX12 and legacy DX11, used different multisampling options. Ran the game as an admin. Tried revision 1.90 and 1.50 of the MB Bios.
Removed all OC, tried different OC settings.

I haven’t had any luck fixing this and I’m going to be super bummed if I have to return my R7 over this issue, so thanks for any help I can got on this!

While in-game hit “F11” because it sounds like “Radeon Chill” is enabled which is usually enabled by default and supported by several games and you can disabled it on the fly while in-game, Radeon Chill basically caps your FPS between 70 and 140.

Also while in any game hit “Alt-R” to bring up the configuration menu with features, fan speed, overclocking, GPU temps and many other features.

Also hit “Ctrl - Shift - O” in any game to bring up the quick stats AMD Overlay.
