Apparently I need to preface this thread with…
I do not care what choice people make in regards to how they play this game…I am simply asking for opinions.
After watching several videos from streamers to regular Joes and everywhere else…I am curious as to why so many people are going to try to get to 60 asap. It took me forever to hit 60 in Vanilla and that was by choice. I happily got distracted many, many times along the way. I mean, look at this char that I made in Vanilla…he is STILL on his journey to well, 13.
Anyway, whats the rush? The raiding scene is made out to be more like a f*****g job than anything (I say that with love and affection btw) so I don’t get it.
I’m more of a PvP guy myself and one thing I remember for certain in Vanilla is that I didn’t need raid gear to kill someone in raid gear (hell, I saw lvl 49 twinks murdering 60’s)…so me personally, I have absolutely zero reason to rush.

I’m not racing to 60. I’m going to take my time leveling on Herod and I expect it to take forever. I fully expect to see 6 hour queue times at night and give up and try again in the morning before work.
And I also fully expect to log off because I get corpse camped or the zone I am trying to level/quest in is a battlefield. I’ll get there eventually lol.

If it wasn’t for my upcoming busy month of September, I’d be rushing.
Even in 2004 when I started playing WoW, “the journey ™” didn’t mean all that much to me. I wanted to be max level and not the level 40 being camped.

I hear your message. I think for many folks, that rushing to 60 puts them in a position to actually participate in content they missed out on the first time around. That can be what many people are thinking. I played the absolute living sh*t out of Wow during Vanilla and not once did I ever step foot in MC. Yeah Im sore about that. I feel I missed out but I enjoyed the ride the first time around. If I could I would rush to 60 this time to try to experience content I never saw then. But…I cant now either. House, kids, job all that still stands in the way…

Psychologists and counselors are rolling over in their graves to answer this one.
It has nothing to do with the game. Cancerous social issue. If I can rush and deny another human being the satisfaction of fun or enjoyment they will do it. Stream, sell temp leveling jobs for money online for world firsts, gank, camp end game materials, make 100 spam threads on the forums etc…
We call it online bullying ! Hope that clears the universal air for you.

I think a lot of it stems from the current mentality of the average Refail player - everything is so rushed it feels almost forced.
This is comment is not directed at you OP, just a statement to those who might read this - but hey, if that’s your thing, you do you, but don’t come to the forums in the following weeks and complain you’re bored / wanting more content / wanting changes in Classic because you’ve turbo’d to 60 by wearing diapers to be late to the world firsts by about 15 years.
I don’t understand the mentality behind it either, and so long as it doesn’t turn into unwanted changes happening to Classic, let them burn themselves out early on. They’re nicknamed “tourists” with good cause.

Thats weird. Im a true vanilla player and got to rank 7 in vanilla.
Im gonna race to 60 because its fun and will not be a tourist. Different strokes for different folks.
Your over generalizations based on zero evidence is pretty distasteful.
But hey youre entitled to your own opinion.

I am not racing to level 60. I’m playing for a “authentic Classic experience”
I guess people do have other agendas. That one is definitely not on my list.

So there are several reason.
- New players are conditioned that games start at max level. (not just a modern wow issue)
- Some people want the bragging rights.
- some people actually dislike leveling.
- Some want to be in raids because that’s what they enjoy.
- Some feel like if they don’t rush they will get left behind and be unable to play with their friends. (though this mentality can cause you to leave people behind resulting in the same effect)

Every xpac we all rushed but i see little reasons for that in Classic.
Leveling comes with the territory though. There will be diehards who go 15 plus hours a day to get it but to me this misses the journey.

I do it for the chicks. Tell a girl you’re one of the first 60’s on your server, and she’ll jump on you and… ride till she can’t no more

Because that is the way they wish to play the game. No one is saying you are anyone else has to play the game in any particular way.
Just play the game and enjoy.

I’m certainly not racing for any realm firsts but I am going to go balls to the walls while leveling. It’s not because I am brainwashed to think I gotta go fast or rush to max level to experience the game. It’s because I enjoy the launch experience. I feel excited leveling with a sense of urgency, trying to keep up with, if not pull slightly ahead of, the crowd of like minded players.
Plus, I’ve already leveled through the old world several times back in TBC and WotLK. It has nothing to do with ignorance, if anything, it has more to do with experience.

Because it’s fun.
Some of us have been playing vanilla this whole time the idea of “taking it slow” isn’t attractive.
Plus it’s a competition thing. Some people enjoy competition. Completing against yourself, against the server.
“Taking it slow” is for alts

I’m not saying everyone should take their time…if you want to rush to 60 then by all means, do so. I am just not sure why one would want to do it so quickly. I hear and see all the points made though.
I also remember back in Vanilla I was in a guild and I was around level 45 or so and I was out doing some PvP and the guild master got annoyed because I wasn’t leveling…just seems like this mentality never goes away.
Anyway, rush or not I hope this game will be all we hope it will be (minus the queues) in a few days.

Nor do I but that doesn’t mean I am not efficient at getting there

Rushing to 60 ASAP because I have more free time now than I will in a month or so… that and I don’t want to be getting camped at flight paths in a few months… I want to be the one camping flight paths
And to be honest I won’t really be rushing I’ll just be playing a lot…
