Racials for me, unfortunately. I would much prefer to be an Orc Shaman, but I will roll a Troll for Berserking. Orc offers nothing for a resto Shaman at all.
Well you can’t change it later like you can in Retail. Pick the race you prefer.
Aesthetics, always
I’ll be going to aesthetics myself.
I’d rather have a character that looks awesome to me.
I am picking Night Elf because I have always liked the lore behind the Night Elves, since they were introduced in WC3.
Role playing aesthetics.
Human, priest, potion maker. (I know pvp dwarf is superior, I don’t care)
Racials all balance out in a long run the same.
100% Aesthetics. A game should be about fun and immersion and a connection to your character.
That’s not true at all in Vanilla. Some races are much more highly desirable to certain classes/specs than others.
Aesthetics for me, I like the way Tauren look.
Racials. The Orc vs. Undead Rogue/Warlock is a great example of this argument. Undead have swagger, no doubt about it. But Hardiness is way stronger than WotF for most scenarios and for the sort of match-ups that you’re going to struggle with anyway.
Well, a mix really. Going alliance warlock when classic launches, so the options ain’t exactly varied. Human males looks goofy and so does females. So gnome male it is.
If the /dance is bad - no go
I’ve always been a Female Troll fan but even I’m having a hard time justifying picking one over Orc with hardiness. 25% stun resist is just straight up overpowered. I started as an Orc and only went Troll because the racials were better back in WOTLK.
Aesthetics 100%. I utterly refuse to play the, “best” race racial wise - it’s not a big enough difference.
I hate trolls, so no matter how good their racials are for a class, they aren’t getting picked.
Have similar issues with Tauren. I don’t mind their animations, but their larger size but same movement speed makes it feel like you’re running through mud and has poor game feel.
So horde side I tend to stick with Orcs or Undead.
I’m reasonably alright with all the alliance races in vanilla. (I had similar issues to tauren with Draenei males in TBC though. They feel much slower since their model has a larger stride but covers the same distance as all player races).
Gnomes are interesting as you feel like you’re much faster, even though you’re actually not. Though their occassionally getting dismounted/swimming in water other people can ride/run through can get annoying. (I usually jump the middle of streams just to be safe).
It’s the faction for me… I plan on making a Tauren Druid and I’m just not a big Alliance fan.
Aesthetics 100%, lucky that trolls have good racials for heals but definitely not the deciding factor
I say aesthetics but end up leaning toward racials. For alliance I stick w/ aesthetic better, but when Horde it is more likely to just end up orc
Absolutely aesthetics. You don’t have to stare at racial abilities for 100+ hours. Be something that looks cool to you.
Racials are fine and all, but it’s not game breaking to have a “sub-optimal” race/class pairing.
