Racial Mounts before prepatch

I was wondering if anyone or blizzard can confirm if this would work. I’ve been told I could have a guildy buy the orc racial epic wolf mount and trade it to me since they are Bind on use. If I keep it in my bags till after prepatch then I should learn the epic riding skill and be able to use said wolf mount.

Can anyone confirm or deny this? I currently do not have an epic mount on said character.

Thanks guys!

IDK about AFTER Pre-patch, but you can trade said Mounts to another User. I had a friend do this for me, as well. They were both Exalted with Darnassus and Rank 3 which gives an additional discount on Mounts. He bought the Mount with the Gold that I gave him, and he traded the Mount back to me, and I (essentially) used the Mount that I paid for and was Exalted with Darnassus. I just wasn’t Rank 3 LOL

I worry about AFTER Pre-Patch, however. Considering, the Mount Changes whereas there will be a Level 60 Ground Mount Riding Speed Training instead of just the one basic Riding Skill to ride all of the Mounts, for said faction. For example, I only paid for the generic basic Horse Riding Skill, at Level 40. As of right now, I do not need to train for any Level 60 Riding Training for an Epic Horse. I just need to buy the Epic Horse.

Only reason I bought two different Riding Trainings is because I learned to ride Horses at 40 and then Cats at 60. Because I never learned the generic basic Cat Riding at 40 because I wasn’t Exalted with Darnassus, at the time.

But, I digress. You should be able to use said item, as long as it’s in your possession, at the time, and you have the proper trainings for it via either the Wolf Riding Skill, or both the Level 40 and Level 60 Riding Skills, when that comes.

So i dove in and did a bit more research and It seems that I would still need to be exalted with Orgrimmar to ride the wolf mount in prepatch. So essentially It would not benefit me to have the wolf mount in my bags during prepatch without being exalted.

Yes, that rule has forever been applied until Account Wide came into the picture. In some ways it would (kind of) benefit having it in your bags, already. By the time you hit the appropriate level to ride it, you don’t have to go ALL THE WAY to the Wolf Seller, but you know…preferences :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Yes, if you are not an Orc, you will NEED to be Exalted with the Orcs, in order to ride their Mounts. It’s been this way until Account Wide came into the picture. That being said, it still remains in your possession, if somebody DID trade it to you, and you never traded it back to them. That part will remain the same, until the end of time.

But, I digress. Yes, as a Human Mage who wanted to ride the Darnassus Mounts, I worked VERY hard to reach Exalted with them and am a proud owner of a Darnassus Mount :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

For the record, that friend who got me the discount, is a fellow Human Mage, as well. NOT a Nelf LOL

EDIT: As of right now, though, I think there are still some Mount Restrictions, even if you are Exalted with said Faction. For example, the Gnome Mounts. I believe only Dwarves and Gnomes can ride them. IK this because in ACTUAL BC (when, I first started playing this game) I wanted to ride those Mounts, as a Nelf. I had gotten into Revered, until a friend of mine told me Nelves couldn’t ride those mounts because they’re “too tall”. Only short races like Dwarves and Gnomes can ride them. I was so sad. I believe that got uplifted either in Wrath or Cata. I can’t remember which expansion it was.

Thank you for this input! it helped me a ton! I suppose I will either farm the AV rep to get the frostwolf or just wait to get my Talbuk in nagrand!

Congrats on the tiger!

For sure!

In regards to the PvP Mounts, I was talking to another friend of mine (IK, so many friends LOL) who has the PvP Tiger Mount, in their possession, but they are NOT Exalted with Darnassus (they’re a Human Lock). I think that gets uplifted in BC? Not entirely sure.

And, the Talbuk’s are awesome!

And, thank you! I’m so happy

Yeah the pvp mounts do not require reputation to mount so long as you are rank 11 when you buy them. However in TBC you do not need to be rank 11 just farm the tokens to buy them. Sad thing is as a tauren I can only use the kodo or wolf :frowning:
