Racial Change for Mechagnomes: Failsafe

Current Failsafe mechanics: At a certain health percentage, the Mechagnome cheats death and their health is brought back to about fifty percent.

Proposed Failsafe change: Mechagnomes are machinery. They should be able to come back to life upon death. Five minute cooldown.

Why should this change be considered?

In lore contexts, Mechagnomes are considered immortal. This could very well apply to Mechagnomes of old and modern. Also, the current way of how the racial works sucks.

PLUS! Mechanical battle pets come back to life upon death!

Why Mechagnomes?

Because hardly anybody plays them. This could attract new players. And they’ll be the only race to do this, aside from the class of Shaman.

Level of upgrades also vary between individuals mechagnomes. Atypically Mechagnomes (in the content of the ones we recruit) have lifespans the same as Gnomes.

I never got the trope around “the immortal machine”. The lifespan on technology is way shorter than organics. There’s such rapid obsolescence today, a brand new peice of tech is ready for the bin in a year or two.

Does your car spontaneously come back to life without some tedious and often expensive effort on your part? Name a machine that’s still fine and dandy (and in everyday use) that’s also older than a human lifespan without constant devoted maintenance.

Anyhow, yes. Make the change but only if it plays out like the scene in T2 where Arnold wrenches the metal bar out of his chest when his back-up power supply activates.

Nobody is still going to WANT to play Mechagnome if they got an Anhk. They’d just be mad that they have to play a Mechagnome because even on a 5 minute cooldown that’s a disgustingly overpowered racial that makes MoP Trolls look balanced.

Mechagnomes already have super strong racials between failsafe and combat anaylsis. I would argue that they are probably the 4th strongest in that aspect of all races…

But their design keeps people from playing them so your idea would solve nothing except to make a lot of players mad since they would feel obligated to play a race they hate.

I’m not following. There would be no obligation to play a Mechagnome. Nothing in this game should be forced.

Just give Mechagnomes more customization options for lack of mog. I have 2 max level Mechagnomes and have no complaints about the race in general.

True, but scientifically speaking, cybernetics have a knack for extending the lifespan of some. Others are not so lucky.

Your suggest would give mechagnomes the, by far, most OP racial in the game.

In technicality, Combat Analysis could very well be the most OP racial in the game.

Imagine you and some other player both have the same gear and a Mythic rating of 5000 IO. Yes, it’s big. Yes, I’m exaggerating a bit. But Combat Analysis would give an edge over the other because of its primary stat buff.

But your made up scenario almost never happens and the buff is almost unnoticeable among all of the other things that affect DPS output.

Overall, it is not significant enough to get most players so choose it.

But a free self-battle rez that doesn’t count towards the caps would be insane. Heck, at 5-minutes you could use it 2 times during some raid boss fights.

The 5000 Mythic IO? Yes, I know. I said I was exaggerating.

Also, the only one who will notice DPS output is the player who plays the Mechagnome. Otherwise everybody else is busy fighting.

You have to at least try to give it some racial flavoring more than just a straight up rez.

Make it work like an improved Goblin Jumper Cables. 20 minute cool down but with a 50/50 chance of working instead of 33%.

Or 100% chance of working but it has a 15 second overload count down that has a 50% chance to kill you again.

And at that point I would rather keep it like it is. Failsafe has saved me sooooooooooooooooooooooo many times…until Blizz convinced me to race change

That’s the titan forged mechagnomes. The ones from before the curse of the flesh. Not our mechagnomes, which are just regular flesh gnomes with augmentations.
