Looks like some racials are getting tweaked in the next expansion.
A few nerfs in there, sadly. I don’t see why the Zandalari regenerating racial had to get nerfed from 100% HP regen to 50%. Seems uncalled for and counter-intuitive based on their rationalization:
Developer’s note: We’re making updates to several racial abilities with the goal of increasing the viability of some underrepresented races. Many of these abilities have fallen behind naturally within the game’s ecosystem and our hope is that targeted tweaks will help promote increased diversity of racials across all content types.
If they’re trying to increase the diversity of races played (because we’re not seeing any new racials or old racials being removed so not sure how the racials themselves are getting diversified), this probably won’t do much. New customizations would be a better way to go about that.
Well, that and finishing adding every class to every race.
Yeah in pvp I am sure that would be strong, but even then other classes have a damage modifier as well as some sort of utility spell whereas vulpera only have the slow (or heal) without any other damage modifier. It just weirdly stands out. I do like my RP tent hearthstone and bag space though!
Yes the zandalari regeneratin’ was completely unusable in 99% combat scenarios. Now it can be realistically used. 50% over 6s might be too low but we’ll see. I’m happy with this change
Now if they are willing to make all combat racials useful in pve, I think they should look at Quaking palm, give it an extra effect. In today’s reality where soft ccs are not as good for interrupting casts anymore (the mob immediately starts casting the ability again now), a single target incap on a 2min cd is not on par with other available racials.
I think it should put some form of debuff on the target when it wakes up! Reduce its damage, make it take more damage etc
Undead have it pretty bad too with will of the forsaken. The very rare moments where a fear/sleep/charm break is useable, it’s not even that good to have. Maybe also give it an extra, more generically good effect, like some leech for a few seconds
I’d say it depends on what you found useful, whether you see it as a nerf or not.
To me it feels like a Nerf. I have a Zandalari Druid and Rogue. I like to run off and use that heal , even if I won’t have the full cast time.
Now that healing is halved. Period.
You could say “well now only direct damage breaks it” - ok… but when that happens, the healing is less.
They weakened the healing output… but made it less prone to being interrupted by certain attacks… that is a nerf in my book.
Blizzard did say they want to even out the numbers. I think they saw a lot of Zandalari, so they wanted to nerf them a bit. But they should consider that the Zandalari are the only race that can be Paladins, Druids, and Shaman - which might account for their popularity more so than their racials.
My Druid is a Zandalari because I don’t like any of the Druid options -I do not like Tall races but all the Druid races are tall. If they let me make my Druid a Vulpera, I would, even with the sub par racials.
It’s an indirect (and rather significant, from a PvP standpoint) nerf to Zandalari ret paladins. Regeneratin’ could be abused in some fantastic ways by paladins.
Zandalari is still one of the less-used races. Blood elves and night elves are by and far the most represented, yet neither of them saw nerfs to their racials. Zandalari aren’t even remotely close to those two, humans, or any of the other top contenders.
So nah, this isn’t them wanting to reduce the number of them played. This was them just not thinking things through at all.
Arbitrary nerf to regeneratin’, but they want to leave us with that 15 minute cooldown on that useless glide. Can’t even fix that in exchange.
Well Blood Elves already got super nerfed when their AoE silence was removed. They would have to give Blood Elves like, negative stats to ever shrink that population.
Night Elves… I think after they burned Teldrassil, they just don’t want to stir that pot any time soon.
The blood elf racials are still considered quite strong despite the rework leaving them at a fraction of their previous usefulness. You can completely turn the tide of a losing match just by eating one of an opponent’s buffs at the right time.
