I would love some classes not to be race specific. Like a human should be able to be a shaman due to the fact of certain cultures having shamans in their villages. I’ve played shaman for so long but kind of bored swapping between the same races over and over to mix it up a bit. Please blizzard free the classes to not have to be race specific for most. Thanks

screw “lore” other games, guild wars 2, final fantasy 14, etc all have this ability and it doesn’t interfere with “lore”

Never could understand the need for Race / Class / Faction locks this late in the game. Why not let people play a Human Shaman Horde if it makes them happy, keeps them subbed, and gets them to queue for group content?

lol, I’ve argued how contrived class/race lore really is, those types really just don’t care about evidence.
Although for the human horde thing, I could understand a bit more on Blizzard’s end for not ever doing as that would probably lose them more players than SL did as that is a bit more heavy handed than simply letting people play whatever class with whatever race.
I mean, alliance and horde playing together is one thing, full faction swap-ability is another.
If the game weren’t 20 years old and built on faction difference like it is, regardless of being allies or not, it could work, but with how things are now, that’s going a bit deeper than breaking already contrived lore.

If youre ok with duplicate animal forms with existing races then yes we can have druids for all races. We cant use generic animals as they are missing certain animations associated to specific skills.
Demon hunter at best can work with void elves. All other races again dont have the animation with most demon hunter skills. Use race polymorphs and you can see the problem.
Okay but human demon hunters. Let’s go

Anduin/Jaina & Thrall, Varian & Saurfang, Tyrion Fordring & Etrig… There are some long standing friendships, bonds, and even simple respectful acquaintances between the races of the Alliance and Horde. Our ability would hardly break the Lore, or the history. Even Anduin and Sylvanas put their war to rest and we saw Uther and Sylvanas both have a moment, and both ironically killed by Arthas. I don’t think we will see tons of Alliance characters in Org, or tons of Horde in Stormwind, not all the time anyway after the shine wears off. But we’ve been seeing it for 18 years in Shattrath, Dalaran (twice), Oribos, and even Dornogal. We’ve already been sharing the same space for nearly two decades. Let’s pull that curtain back and make it official.

worgen being cursed humans that can be priests but not paladins?
Worgen and Kul Tiran being druids, but base “human” can’t?

Anyways, opening up all classes to all races would be an overall net positive.
The writers did a good job with introducing basic features in the game like cosmetic features such as the Man’ari, and if they approached opening class availability in a similar manner, it’d be fine.
Sunwalkers are cool and always have been. It’ll be fine.

Humans should have gotten shaman when Kul’Tiran was released. Just make them start in Kul’Trias. While KT paladins start in Northshire.
