Ok, So we all know that a vocal portion of the player base really, really wants Queldorei to be playable for alliance, But for the hell of it I’m curious what races people’d rather see in the game.
For me, The big ones ~not going into the really crazy stuff that is super out there~ I’d like to see would be Arakoa, Ethereals, Sethrak and quilboar; all of them have distinct silhouettes and background lore, and I’d love to see them running around the capitols of the horde and alliance.
So how bout it? What tops your list for most coveted race that isn’t a high elf?
What I’d really love to see is basically a Forsaken-like offshoot from the Evergrowth. Given that the pollen from it acts like a Scourge plague, you could do a similar thing with half-plant humanoids. I’d love some sort of tree-based creature.
Centaur. The whole can’t show all the gear argument is out the window with Mechagnomes. The only thing that could limit them is flying mounts and for that, just make a flying carpet their racial mount and limit them to using mounts that have you stand, like carpets and the flying disks.
I’ve wanted Centaur as an Alliance race forever. It would give the Alliance another beastial, morally questionable race and it would give the Tauren an actual reason to hate the Alliance.
Quillboar could be nifty. Sethrak too(especially if we could choose between the various forms). Jinyu seem like an easy choice for Alliance.
Though personally, I’ve always been intrigued by Naga and Murlocs. No doubt it’d be hard to justify Naga, but we have worked with Murlocs for several expansions now. A silly neutral race that picks a side, open it up to all classes. That’d be cool.
Murlocs, even if introduced as a second neutral race, are the game’s mascot and should be playable.
Oozes (warcaft’s name for slimes) created/evolved as an off product of some Goblin’s attempt to enhance Kaja’mite’s intellect altering properties with Azerite.
Naga whose forms changed after the death of N’zoth and weakening the magic that turned them into Naga making them Sea Elves I guess. (completely new elf model/rig/silhouette)
A new form of undead. Something along the lines a haunting spirit bound to/possessing some sort of manufactured “body”. Could even be wisps instead of spirits, there should be a lot of them around Teldrassil. It could work as wisps are dead night elves that are able to become one with the forest after death. Maybe Elune could have intervened to do this and prevent them going to the maw.
An evolved Basilisk race. I don’t think Blizzard will ever introduce a dragon race as they tend to try to keep the dragonflights above the faction rivalry. Basilisks are everywhere though, maybe we could come across some that have become humanoid and formed their own civilization somewhere.
P.S. I don’t think any of the covenants should become playable races as when people from Azeroth die, they become part of and evolve into them.
EX. Uther is now a Kyrian, would be odd if they somehow joined the horde.
P.P.S. No more Thalassian Elves, we have enough. Do something new.
Really though, I dunno. I have no desire for “oddball” type races so none of the out-there suggestions that get thrown out frequently catch my attention at all. Actually, I kinda feel like weird stuff like arrakoa should be on its own third true neutral faction, because they for the most part don’t fit the current factions very nicely.
