I personally believe that the races in wow are very original and great designs. I think the ya re all equally as cool but I would like to see others opinions on the races in classic. If you want to give me your opinion, rank every race 1-10 (only classic races)

races in classic are honestly pretty generic.
tauren, night elves, and trolls are probably the most unique out of the bunch.
WoW is purposefully generic to make it as accessible as possible. Tauren are cuter minotaurs, night elves are dark elves, and trolls are trolls.

Night elves seem like a purple ripoff of Warhammer wood elves imo
I agree with them being more akin to a purple version of wood elves. That’s better than what I came up with, for sure.
Yeah but the WoW troll is nothing like the Norwegian one in design. They only share a name, which I can live with. Orcs are kind of the same admittedly, but their design is stolen from WH.
Technically, female gnomes are #9.

Imagine the type of mind capable of rank ordering races. It makes me shudder knowing people like this exist in the real world.
From best to worst:
- Tauren (11/10)
- Trolls (10/10)
- Dwarves (9/10)
- Night elf male (8.5/10)
- Orc female (8.25/10)
- Night elf female (8/10)
- Orc male (7/10)
- Annoying gnomes (3/10; +9 if you PvP successfully as one)
- Bland humans (0/10; like really, it’s a fantasy game, pick something else!)
- Forsaken monstrosities (-1000/10)
Humans are the best period, all of the other uglies are either for killing or to hang out with occasionally so no one can accuse you of being racist
In the retail game, I have an entirely different preference order, but for Classic, I’m all about the Humans, the Forsaken, and the Gnomes. Instead of ranking them x/10 (because that seems super arbitrary), I’ll just list them in the order of my preference with reasons.
1.) Humans - pretty to look at, even with these antiquated models, and they have a relatable lore. Diplomacy. Perception. That’s pretty much the deal maker right there.
2.) Forsaken - just straight up cool with the best lore in the game. Hands down. I love playing Forsaken characters in both iterations of the game, and their casting animations, voiced emotes, and general atmosphere are the most immersive in all of Classic WoW.
3.) Gnomes - so cute you cannot help but play one on Alliance side…and super annoying if it’s another person’s character. Gnomes are simultaneously the most fun to play and the most cathartic to gank. They jump constantly because they have to. In the retail game, the updated models are absolutely irresistible, and I really miss the facial animation of the newer model. Still. I really enjoy my gnome alt in Classic, and Escape Artist is a nice benefit.
4.) Trolls - Trolls are led by the most amazing character in the entire game–either Vanilla or Retail. The flavor of the trolls is just the greatest. Vicious but laid back. Just wish they could wear shoes and there was more than one female face anyone can stand to look at.
5.) Night Elves - The bodies are a weird shape, and the males are especially awkward to look at. Still, the sense of ancient story with them and the ability to play an elf a la Lord of the Rings lore is something lots of players like. Their voices are soothing and the best in the game, generally, in my opinion. Their jokes are stupid, but “I need a target” never sounded so good. Shadowmeld is amazeballs.
6.) Orcs - I’m not a fan. The female voice is so bad that I can’t hang out with it, and like the trolls, it’s hard to find one with a face you want to look at. Having said that, the orc lore is solid, and the body model is really well done. It will never stop irritating me that the males are stooped over, but oh well. What can you do?
7.) Tauren - I have tried over and over with these hoof-feet races ingame, and I can’t do it. Nope.
8.) Dwarves - Uglier than the Tauren in Classic. Oddly, they are one of my favorite races in retail (see avatar), but the older models…I can’t do it. Nope.
