Race/Class/Mount Combos

Is it just me or does anyone else take into consideration what race and/or class their character is when choosing what mount to ride? For example, my blood DK always rocks the Bloodbathed Frostbrood Vanquisher when flying. Being a Mag’har orc, she usually sports the Mag’har Direwolf on the ground. These are just some examples. I’m curious if anybody else does the same.

  1. Lightforged Dranei Paladin: Lightforged Warframe
  2. Undead: Rivendare’s Deathcharger
  3. Nightborne Warlock: Manasaber
  4. Dark Iron Dwarf Warrior: Core Hound/Rustbound Protodrake
  5. Void Elf Mage: Dark Phoenix
  6. Human Fire Mage: Cindermane Charger/Ashes of Al’ar
  7. Holy/Disc Priest: Tyrael’s Charger

P.S. I think it would be cool if you mount the Obsidian Worldbreaker in the presence of the Aspects, they have a reaction to it. Like Alexstrasza could say “Oh! For a second there I thought…” Or Wrathion/Sabellian/Ebyssian could say “That’s not funny, champion. Put that away.” If Bwonsamdi and Nefarian can say class-specific things to your character, I don’t see why the Aspects can’t say mount-specific things.

I absolutely do, and why I’ve been wrestling with the macro character limit. Every character needs a perfectly tailored mount loadout from the aquatic to dragon riding variety.

Bugs me the favorite mount button is BoA and not bound per toon.

Such a great button, sadly really hard to theme mounts to class(s).

I only really play one character, but I typically prefer the charger mounts for my little pally.

I, too, love NPC reactions to weapons/items the player has and want to see more of that. Even just the NPCs turning to face your character as you approach them was a welcome change to add some immersive qualities.

Definitely do. Each of my toons has a couple of mounts on the side bar (flying, dragon, land). I rarely vary but once in a while I change it up for a toon.

Absolutely I do.

I categorise mounts by race Tyrael’s Charger for me is exclusively human. My ‘fire lord’ mechagnome has cinder ray pets and a fire horse.

It’s all a plan from the get-go.

My very first Paladin my lord. Was in love with her personal canon. I think it’s possible to delve deeper and make character lore but I haven’t since her.

I like to use the gronnling and other such ground mounts cuz it feels funny to be a tiny goblin on some giant monster

I do all the time. Which ground and flying mount my character uses I determine based on their race and class, or even which spec I’m in:

  1. Zandalari Shaman (this guy): Venomhide Ravasaur/Cobalt Pterrodax
  2. Zandalari Paladin: Crusader’s Direhorn/Red Pterrodax
  3. Mag’har Warrior: Beastlord’s Warwolf/Iron Skyreaver
  4. Demon Hunters: Felsaber/Corrupted Dreadwing
  5. Warlocks: Fel Drake
  6. Fire Mage: Core Hound/Primal Flamesaber/Firehawk
  7. Frost DK: Frostbrood Proto-wyrm

There’s a bunch more, but I don’t want this to be a huge list.

I try to put thought into all my race/class mounts.

Tovi uses Invincible. That might change to the FOMO Wrath proto-drake if I ever found a good undead ground mount to use.

My paladin has been using her Sunwalker Kodo since day one of Cata. Almost all my paladins (Zandalari, dwarf and DID) use their paladin mount. I use the High Lord mount on my belf because that 8 pixel piece of crap horse looks terrible.

My fire mages uses fire mounts (solar hawk and fire talon hawk).

My Forsaken hunter uses the removed slime cat and Undercity bat.

I have 33 alts and I’m not going to list all their mounts out but I make sure their mounts make sense with their race and class.

tbh i just hit the magic rooster keybind.
Actually, sometimes I try to class/race fantasy it. The Violet Spellwing is great for my Nightborne.
I like to use the Heavenly Cloud Serpents on my monk.
I do have a small subset of heavy rotation flying mounts, independent of my character’s race/class tho: Ha-Li, Ji-Kun, the mount you get from Hirukon.

Forsaken Warhorse/Headless Horseman/Warlord’s Deathwheel are the only mounts I ever ride.

Occasionally I use the Undercity Plaguebat for flying. But that’s it.

Im using invincible for this character. :relaxed:

Yeah, I’ll typically theme my mounts to my characters, but not all of them. If I had a warframe, my LFD would definitely use it, but I don’t really feel like spending half a million gold right now.

My Warlocks all use the Shackled Ur’zul.
My DID all either use their racial mounts, corehound, or the SL S1 Lava spider.
My Panda warrior uses the golden bull, being that she is an adherent of Niuzao.

I have other themed mounts I can’t remember off the top of my head. Of course all my worgen use running wild from time to time, I count that as a themed mount.

I really wish they will put in a undercity plaguebat recolor some day. It is probably my favorite mount and unfortunately I didn’t play when it was released.

I do try to change it up with mounts, but the Leyfeather Hippogryph fits my Nelf Arcane Mage so well I will keep going back it.

And when Blizzard decides to ruin the investment from TCG mount holders some more with a Twitch drop, I would like to obtain a Corrupted Hippogryph for my newly created Nelf Warlock.

Teldrassil Hippogryph only.

I named my pet nightsaber “Stereotype”

I almost exclusively play Pandaren and as such, almost exlusively ride Yaks and Cloud Serpents. I’ll sometimes mix-it-up by riding a direhorn/pterrordax combo depending on the intended personality of the panda. My Warrior panda rides the Shado-Pan tigers.
