I don’t either as long as it makes sense. Void+Light = Big Explosion. Before you say Void Priest then by lore they are only using Shadow Spec. Blizzard is just too lazy to remove (or at least change) the other two specs for priest on VE.
What I am saying is that they messed up.
The light was supose to be sacred, holy, they made it a tool to allow blood elves to be horde and have paladins.
Now, since its a tool, well, anyone can use it, taurens, trolls, just make a Golden Whatever and belive on it you have the light at your disposal.
They got a bunch of customizations in 9.1.5. Had new faces, colors, hairstyles, and hand glow options.
Like the rest of your points are valid, but this isn’t.
Lightforge S. Priests would be similar and we’re playing them so… Just add it already.
yea homie this wasn’t a thing since classic. SC was legit run by a dreadlord (actually multiple if you consider the other scarlet crusade cells) rofl.
It still made sense, they are masters of persuasion, they can mimic but not manipulate (they cant use the real thing, or they could not, now we have dreadlords infused by the light, its a mess).
Manipulation was kind of their thing
Alright, I refer to use the real thing, well back in Vanilla anyway.
No. If it were up to me LFD and void elves would have priest deleted from their class list or their abilities would be changed to fit their race as well. The priest fantasy in wow at it’s core is unorthodox to what the actual image of a priest is in one’s mind. They guide people through the spiritual powers of light and void and have more faith in themselves than the light or the void. Their goal is to strengthen people spiritually through their powers and charisma. It’s a means to an end, all the strong believers in one faith are realistically paladins with the exception being spriests that just go insane.
Well, based on writting, all devs managed to do was prove the Scarlet Crusade was right all along. Their faction simply suffered all sorts of nasty things because they were left alone to fight the Forsaken and others.
It’s quite different cause a LFD Shadow Priest would just be utilizing shadow magic, they are not the embodiment of shadow.
It’s why it’s quite easy to make Priests extendable to every race because technically you can say that each race has their own religious sect, e.g. Panda Priests of the Jade Temple, Cult of Forgotten Shadows for the Forsaken etc…, and Shadow can be seen as a sort of a speaker for the dead type of deal, or just someone who is curious about shadow/void magic and the visions/prophecies it might entail.
Void Elves are literally infused with void energies, so it’s quite difficult to work around the entire Void Elf-Paladin issue unless if they provide a Void Paladin class skin. Given the rules that Blizz has in place right now with the Void/Light interaction with how void-infused Alleria felt agonizing pain when touching light-infused Turalyon, it literally can’t work.
Also I’d prefer it if Void Elves get a stronger identity to the Void (given that it’s in their very name) than to further discount them into High Elves.
Same page.
For me Paladins should be a alliance thing, shamans a horde thing, but again, they messed up back in TBC and for that reason, that reason alone, void elves should be able to be paladins.
LFD are infused with the light.
Again, they made it a tool as much as you describe the void.
Taurens, and trolls aren’t paladins, but do use the toolkit, just saying Taurens are Sunwalkers, and Trolls are some sort of LOA knight thingy. Sin’dorei aren’t paladins either, but are Bloodknights.
Why is it that Void Elf players just keep wanting every single identity that the Sin’dorei have? Roll a True High Elf on the Horde, or go home.
Now now don’t tell them to do that. Would you really want to be in a group with some of these fanatics?
Eh, people looks at them more important then they actually are. While light magic is important to the sunwell true, but the culture is still way more arcane based then light. Paladins to them is still just a military unit to them, and have little role in the leadership. There is a few that do worship the light, but it’s not a common thing with BE’s.
Also, BE’s did not have a fel addiction, it was an arcane addiction.
Trolls and tuaren are not void beings. And it does make sense, with anshe (the sun God to the tuaren) and the king of loa being powerful beings that uses and grants light powers.
Void elves are void beings at this point. Light does not mesh with void.
Tyrant was a demon who fought in mockery of paladins, no demon can be a pally.
Twilight paladins used light magic.
Evil paladins is within the crusade still used light magic.
If you use a different kind of magic that is not light, you are not a paladin, but something else.
Yes, but that was 2nd generation death knights.
It’s not curruption really, fallen paladins lost the ability to use light magic, and turned willingly to the scourge to become death knights. They embraced a different magic entirely.
No,void elves cannot cannonically weild the light. The priest class they have is there to cover shadow priestdom much like how tidesages makes kt shamans.
Lightforged s.priests does not exist in canon and is not an excuse for VE pallies.
You are right. I had no idea they got those options, thanks for letting me know.
As far as we know right now, Shadow Priests aren’t infused by shadow/void. They’re just practitioners of that magic. It’s a bit wonky with things like Shadowform and Voidform, but that’s the common consensus of now since there’s Discipline where you can literally use both at the same without exploding. Therefore why there’s the entire thing about utilizing vs being infused.
The point is that there’s more leeway with Priests than there is for Paladins. And unless if Blizz does something major to change how the Light/Void works, I don’t really see Void Elf Paladins happening besides a Void Paladin class skin.
I’m not so sure. In the opening dialogue for Blood Elves, it’s said that
The blood elves, following the will of their crazed leader Kael’thas Sunstrider channeled dangerous chaotic magics to transform their sacred Sunwell into a gateway of unspeakable evil. While Kael’thas and his demonic masters were eventually defeated
I believe in the cosmology that, fel is chaotic, arcane is order. This is probably also why there are giant green fel crystals with demonic eyes in the Blood Elf starting areas. Also why Blood elves had glowing green fel eyes.
Hmm, never mind what I said. The article states they’re addicted to Arcane magic, and thematically it doesn’t make a lot of sense with what we see in game.
Interesting.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on the Paladin class hall questline ‘Walking In Shadows’ where the paladins realize that using shadow in conjunction with light could not only be effective, but beneficial.
You guys are gonna need a thread to threat devs that you are unsubbing if void elf/undead paladins are going to be in the game for future with 1000+ likes to never release them.
