WoW has races scaled so weirdly compared to one an other. A gnomes head is like twice the size of a blood elf’s.
That’s so that the full effect of the Gnome race’s status as the joke race can be fully appreciated.

they just have bigger brains
Some races are designed to be goofy and unpleasant to look at. Gnome would be one of them.
Not really Blizz’s fault on that one they just took stock fantasy Gnomes and made a 3d image of them. Gnomes are just small and out of proportion humans.
Look at the hands on Goblins lol. Like mallets on small green sticks. Hammer hands.

They made these models, they can fix them proportionately. Just slight tweaks so that it’s not TOO goofy!

Because the races in WoW aren’t just different flavors of Humans, they’re effectively different species (although that word isn’t quite right either). They don’t all have to have the same structure.
That said, yes, it looks weird.
Pandaren before KT Humans were BY FAR the worst example. Slap a Pandaren next to a Human in the middle of Stormwind and the wildly different proportions didn’t make Pandaren feel like an exotic race, it made them feel like some kind of bad IP crossover imported model.
And I say that as someone who love Pandaren in a vacuum. Just don’t think they fit well when side by side the core races. At all.
I mean look at the creepy flippers blood elves have for hands and feet
Gnomes are good in comparison
no the last time they touched blood elves they left us with sneers on our faces like we stepped in dog turds.

The only thing I have always found strange about Gnomes is they have four fingered hands and five toed feet.
Gnomes got hips for days and still aren’t in desperate need of a model fix, Mr. Nightborne.
I’m pretty sure that the smallest playable race by weight is Forsaken. A human body at that state of desiccation would be about 30lbs. Just about anyone, even a small child, should be able to throw them around with ease.
The idea of them physically attacking with any meaningful force is pretty comical.
There are other forces at play with them, just saying.
