Race related content in retail do you miss it?

I mean seriously, I got attached to the game due to the lore, I see the lore as if it was the soul of the game, when I started playing the game I felt like a forsaken, all the drama from the initial quests really drove me, every time I follow a new quest related to the forsakens it is like a fresh air to me.

We got some content involving Lilian Voss recently I can’t tell you how relevant this is to me once that we followed her story since the first quests of the forsaken, the quests to get the racial mog made me vomit rainbows, the mog is terrific, I even changed a mog I had had for years to this new one in part.

Not only the forsaken but my bias expansion was Pandaria, I almost gave up my forsaken in order to be a Pandaren, for Sylvannas sake… I follow the Huojin to this day but the npc Kiryn my first love in game, yes I used to fight with Riko all the time and I wouldn’t be afraid of Kiryn’s decayed mouth I swear… To this day I ask where is Ji firepaw?? Or Aysa Cloudsinger? We do need racial quest lines in all the new expansions of the game in order to make sense of the story because in the end the bodies we embody are the meaning of our adventure!

What is the use of Aysa if she is delegated to the jungle in storm wind? I mean seriously, the first time I played in the Alliance and saw that the Pandarens are isolated in eastern earthshrine of Stormwind I felt disgusted, because Ji is in front of a bank in the valley of honor at the hearth of our city in orgrimmar. All the Alliance biased lore of Pandaria was just a decoy, for the ones who remember when we had to choose the faction, Ji used to say nothing relevant but Aysa had a full text about her reasons to follow the Alliance while in the end of the Wandering Isle they try to make Ji looks like a piece of sh**t by exploding the turtle wound, for Sylvannas sake, I was so angry about Aysa I can’t phrase enough… That damn fat female Panda like Ji but just meditating about solutions while Ji was acting is so against my mentality I can’t help but side with the Horde and curse the Alliance. Sorry…

I know that the game have many races and each people has a different experience in terms of lore which drives our choices in many ways and I think it is the source of our drive to play and in fact that should be taken more seriously from the producers, for example, for years I was waiting for Goblins’ content, I love the goblins too, the female ones only… judge me… the new undermine feels like if we were accessing Kezan again and it is amazing I’m really having fun with it and I wouldn’t complain about new stuff concerning Taurens for example, we do need more of that stuff in order to pave the racial lore in general.

What in the heck is this blabbering nonsense?

They watered it down with feel good nonsense to cater to real life BS rather than developing the lore of the fantasy world that WoW was…. Sadly friend they have attempted to develop it into a mirror to Real life and this is part of the reason why modern retail lore just kinda sucks…

It’s not all bad lore in retail, but it’s certainly not as good as it could be based on the budget allocated for that specific component of the game.

Curiously the topic was transferred to the classic general discussion.

hum… I meant it to the general but that means a lot.

So they don’t want people to generally argue about the lack of sense in the lore of the retail?

are you a traitor of the Horde?? Don’t you want more content related to the BE ?

You’re lucky enough by the fact that I’m not gae because I would fall in love with your rhetoric easily. I almost felt like shouting " for the Alliance" in here.

It is not that simple I don’t like the Alliance while I like frost and blue stuff so my identity is quite a mess.

Took me a while to get blue enough mogs in the horde

Truth be told Elves are to blame for everything; we should combine forces and erase them from documentable existence so that all that remains of them is myth.

We can consider it a new era, a cleansing.

Also space goats and furries… can’t let them survive.

the identity of each faction’s races are smeared together into a muddy blue/red.

No because I don’t miss retail and have access to versions of the game that are good enough facsimiles that are not retail.

And then to make it work, new story elements!.

Since OP lead with undead…how do we get a cross over of peace with a race made by vile dark necromancy.

Answer: light created undead. See, now not all undead are dark magic based now.

Also the whole bloodline crap. As I see it a peasant who died, got out of that contract. Menethil blood is not applying. That crap ended when the peasant died as I see it.

Also its years later. I’d have 25% of the forsaken dudes are Kul Tiran service members who died in BFA. We literally help one captain join the ranks. We blow him up, Lilian takes his body away for “recruitment” lol.

I am a menethil heiress. and the KT dude now forsaken is going good for you. that and $5 will buy a coffee as far as I am concerned.

And already better foundation for lore than what present retail provides

In classic, you start the game learning what it means to be your race. Humans learn about the troubles with Stormwind and the Defias Brotherhood. Forsaken learn that they have enemies all around and what it means to be undead. Night Elves learn about the balance of nature. Tauren learn the ways of the hunt. Etc.

In retail, while you can start in your race’s starting area, most of the time you’re pushed into Exile’s Reach and then straight into Dragonflight or the timewalking expansion of your choice.
Even if you want to experience the lore of your race, you’ll pretty much outlevel it very quickly.

There is something to be said about how classic feels more like an RPG. You’re an Orc Warlock. You’re a Night Elf Druid. In retail, you’re “the champion” or “the hero” or “the savior of the world”. Your race, and even your faction, don’t actually mean anything anymore.

the problem is the modern story just craps on all of this. retail needs this forgotten for some races to push their peace and love narrative.

Classic night elf will learn a deep hatred of the horde. I as a retail convert (legion start) now see all that was lost from night elf runs.

That logging camp at start, cata has that expand with the goblins making oils spills and crap northern fel wood.

and retail says dudes…stop hating the horde. Most of alliance doesn’t have horde deforesting their lands, throwing up oil leaking goblin structures.

Oh and the burning of the parts for darskshore a dragon didn’t get to. Almost forgot that one.

How I would fix the deforestation issue. Plant a tree for your tomorrow! With horde corpses decomposing to help them grow.

Retail…can’t have that. Why I like classic. Leveling night elf sees the horde logging camp and thinks one thing. So many targets, so little time.

The real villains of Azeroth are the long ears. They hide it well, and are convincing that it is for the greater good, but all they are is trouble.
