Race change(s) you've regretted and why?

I don’t read the WoW novels and I’m not exactly a race-class-combo. purist, based on what lore I do know; that said, I regret race-changing my female Pandaren Monk. (She became an Orc, then a HMT–and has seen zero play as a HMT, despite the fact that I’m amused by a cow with antlers performing a Spinning Crane Kick on training dummies.)

At the end of the day, I either will delete my lvl-56 Monk–or race-change her back to a Pandaren; somehow, playing her in Panda form just seems more “right” to me now. (I can sense many Monk players–or at least the purists–saying, “Well, duh! Glad you’re getting with the program.”)

I have made one race change in my entire time playing wow.

I changed my Warlock from a Gnome to an Orc and instantly regret it as it didn’t feel like the same character I played with and changed it back to a Gnome immediately. Besides that I have never changed any of my characters from their original races ever.

And never will.

I faction changed my Alliance shaman I’ve had since TBC to an Orc and honestly never play him.

I race changed an orc shaman to goblin when they came out. Now I must play that character with the game muted :frowning:

Race change? Why I never. My characters are beautiful the way they were born.

I had a human paladin that I race changed to a goat.

I changed him back to a human. He was one of my first characters so I’m glad to have him back. lol

wait, did you really buy 2 race changes for a level 56 character?

Ive done this a lot, i think if the prospect of another race attracts you, then just make another toon and keep both, cause if your like me your mind will change so often it becomes expensive.

ps the one i regretted most was making my DK a gnome, i never play him now lol.

This character used to be a male troll in vanilla when i made them, then I transferred and changed them. when i came back in Legion or Wod or something. Waste of money. Should have just leveled a new character.

I love goblins though, that’s not the problem.

I’ve never done a race change.
I just level a new alt.

With that said, I love how Pandaren look when I see one, but not how they look when I play one. Can’t explain it, it’s just not for me. I think that is why I have never had a max Monk. I always make them Pandaren and end up quitting altogether. I do not click with that class AT ALL.

Same with Gnomes. the height view is a problem to me, can’t get used to it and it throws me off, even though I have played other “small” races. They look cool when I see them running around but I just can’t play one.

I’ve race changed twice. One to blood elf, and once back.

It’s not fair to say that I regretted it, though. A friend of mine went Horde for a while, and I went with. They had a pretty cool guild, and I enjoyed my time there. Still, it didn’t feel quite right. A few years later, I came home to the Alliance.

Thats my biggest problem, i see someone on a toon and think “whoa that looks cool!” then race change and boom, i hate it, never to be played again.

Worgen druid to Tauren (along with server change) to play with people I know from elsewhere. The guild slowly died so now the druid is Night Elf back on an oceanic server. The initial change was before the model updates and I never felt the character was right as a Tauren. Was ok in feral/bear but some races I just don’t feel right with.

I’ve only had one other race change: Pandaren to Vulpera… and I’m happy about that one.

I race changed a gnome priest to a panda and then never played him again. Turns out that I dislike pandas to point that I just deleted him.

I think that I changed him for the food buff. It so wasn’t worth it.

I find it really difficult to race change toons that have been with me for so long.

I race changed an orc monk to a zandalari and love it though. It feels right… but at the same time I feel like I abandoned a friend in the process.

Semi regret but it helped me finish Draenor angler and open fishing shack lvl 3 sooner my warrior belf to velf. Though in SL, can make a proper high elf (minus hair) out of her. I may have changed one or more belves when the racial changed panic not sure.

I race changed my hunter so often that I gave up around Legion and used Allied Races as an excuse to finally make 2. The Alliance one was made a Panda once (Back around MoP, because back then it was before any other race had an HD upgrade and were still using the old Vanilla models. Pandas were the most HD by far) and immediately regretted it.

The Panda’s big bellies stretch out so many transmogs, it looks horrible. And I’m a hunter AKA stuck with Mail only, and in MoP you couldn’t hide anything, even shoulders, so transmogging decently was even harder.

Yeah i changed my draenei hunter. I had grown somewhat tired of my hooves being difficult to transmog nicely with the other mail pieces I had, it looked so odd. Either the mail had to look cooler eventually or I needed to do something I kept thinking.

Mail never really improved!

So I went human. I figured that they fit into most armor things the best so I’d enjoy the aesthetic. It was a mistake… my hunter no longer felt like my hunter. Her pets no longer seemed right for my new human! All the armor looked nice, there wasn’t anything really wrong with it but I dunno, she wasn’t the same feeling to me at all. I regretted it!

I am always play the specific race of my choosing on the ptr before officially race changing.
Honestly have not regretted the decision, since I no longer mute the game while playing.

In which case, this thread doesn’t pertain to you.

I did.

I first race-changed her when she was level 30-something; by then, I’d come to dislike playing Monk as a Pandaren and decided that I wanted her to be an Orc. I, then, got her to her current, still-low level and found myself disillusioned with her.

And to think that, until BfA, I never paid for a single race change–and I began playing WoW 2 months’ after its release. I don’t race-change characters like crazy, but I have resorted to several out of boredom. I likely will return to my tight-fisted ways and stop giving Blizzard additional money.

I have alts galore, which is another problem entirely.

Like you, I may not be able to max out a Monk. The class entertains me for a spell, but then loses its luster.
