A Race Change is a paid service that was first available on October 27, 2009

Relevant expansion releases were:

Wrath of the Lich King	November 2008
Cataclysm December 2010

In order to maintain authenticity, it looks like Race Changes would be suitable to add in Classic at some point during Classic WotLK’s lifespan (if/when that releases).

It’s pretty stupid that it isn’t available, since Classic has already veered away from being a replica clone of the original Vanilla game, & it’s no big deal if people want to pay to race change, appearance update, transfer servers, etc.

No, it is a big deal

It wasn’t in classic. Makes no sense for classic. Might as well add flying mounts at that point.

Also sorry man in real life you can’t change your race unless you are Elizabeth Warren.

Race change was added during Wrath, I believe. When a Wrath server is created the option will probably exist.

because it wasn’t in classic and was one of the changes that lead to refail being a dumpster fire with a never ending persession of nerfs, buffs and reworks of races, classes and specs!

This isn’t retail where your choices don’t matter.

In real life u don’t hit people or elves with axes. Nor do I teleport or throw fireballs.

Stupid argument us stupid.

The other argument that it wasn’t in vanilla so it shouldn’t be vanilla has merit.

I would argue for it but meh, its not that important to me.

There already is one, it’s called the character creation screen

There already is a race change service in Classic.
By paying your monthly subscription, you can go to the character creation screen anytime you like and change your race to anything you want before creating character.

“Any reason not to” is extremely weak. It certainly is not a reason TO do anything!

There are countless rule changes one COULD make, and most of them don’t have a “reason not to do it”. There needs to be a strong “reason to do it”, for something to be chosen as a game rule.

Classic WoW is based on Vanilla WoW. To add ANY feature that was not in Vanilla WoW requires a very strong reason TO do it.

There is no real reason aside from letting no change purists hang onto the very last morsel of authenticity they have in a game they’ve already destroyed with metagaming.

For the purposes of race change I identify as Native American. Elizabeth Warren is my inspiration.

Might as well add in free 60 tokens, the gold token, barbershop, transmog, group finder, arena, quest legendaries for every class, death nights, monks and everything else from retail then too.

No reason not by your logic. Wouldn’t change the feel of the game at all right?

Extrapolation is a terrible way to make a point. Simple, quality of life changes like a barber shop or a race change service take absolutely nothing away from the vanilla WoW experience. Arguably, even a group finder would be a welcomed addition, because finding groups through the incessant drone of boosters is damn near impossible.
