This would break the AV meta up quite a bit and see participation in all battlegrounds.
Seems kind of weird I can hit R14 with 0/3000 Arathi/WSG rep.

Nerf AV, buff the NPCs, nerf the honor.
Its ridiculous that any one can get any rank above 6 by literally pressing one button - W, no pvp, no skills, basically any bot can do it lol what a great system we have

WSG rep is pretty insufferable, and significantly slower than the other bgs, even premading.

If you want to get people playing wsg and ab, make those BGs worth doing. The entire incentive structure is wrong, and all this change would do is force even more people to find better gaming options. The carrot/stick argument here… Need more carrot for WSG/AB, not more stick forcing people to play them. The latter will only build resentment among the playerbase, and frankly MORE resentment towards blizzard is about the last thing needed.

Any pve gear from raids should require exalted with every single rep.

You could buff the rep gain of both BGs and then copy paste what OP suggested.
The rep rewards are awesome for those BGs, lol. Maybe not for era, but the game isn’t designed to sit in p6 forever. There’s no incentive on ers but on fresh, those items are huge.
Wsg rep can be daunting coming from me I’ll admit.
Even with instant Q times on som it took me 10 days, which equates to 12 hours a day (with instant q) and almost all wins, wsg rep could be buffed significantly and I support that.
But the rep requirement is just a really good idea. Rank 14 is a pvp achievement, I don’t think there’s anything weird at all about requiring rep for it

My R14 toons got all those reps naturally by R12 or earlier. So yeah it makes sense.
This change probably won’t happen, but it wouldn’t be that off from how things were for many.

In regard to WSG, this train of thought inevitably leads to retail WSG. 15 minute timer and last cap wins. Blizzard has retail-brain so becareful what you wish for.

I was under the impression it was more of a PR move, than an actual “we’re going to actually listen to these people about anything” move.
Is it really accurate to say that 90% of those doing the AV grind are actually having fun though?

Okay, first I’ll say I’m not opposed to that.
However, getting to R14 shouldn’t require doing a single Battleground. If a player can farm that much honor in World PVP then I see no reason why they shouldn’t be able to rank.
It’s the old unintended consequences problem. Locking it to BG rep has the unintended consequences that it is just a BG grinding achievement which you may not like what you get.
