Quit the MMO tribalism plz

I agree wow is better

That’s pretty much where I land today, except it’s more like “XIV for PvE/Story and WoW for PvP/moment to moment gameplay” and I’ve played both games on and off for over 10 years now. Comes with the territory when you’ve been playing MMOs since the 6th grade before WoW even launched.

Sometimes I’m playing one to the exclusion of the other for months at a time, sometimes I’m playing a bit of both on rotating days of the weeks, sometimes I’m playing neither and playing something like BG3 instead.

The problem with these tribalists is not only have they never played any other MMO besides theirs, they don’t even play other games besides WoW or XIV. It’s their entire persona.

This is never going to happen. And frankly, it’s fine if it don’t. It’s a forum of public opinion. Just ignore the threads you don’t wanna see or read.

I agree, SWTOR has a superior story.

If it’s Final Fantasy only, then yes. If someone is comparing it to WoW, then it can be here.

I think it’s fine to do that, because Virus even said, we’re going to always draw comparisons. It’s like getting mad at people for using comparisons from GW2 or Old Republic or Rift or Palia. They’re MMOs and some have borrowed from others. So of course they’re going to come up.

Final Fantasy gives WoW a run for its money. So when new stuff comes out, inevitably topics will come up comparing the two.

There’s nothing wrong with that if it’s civil.

WoW defenders are on another level. In another thread this dude said Shadowlands was terrible in defense of Dragonflight so I linked him a post he made during Shadowlands saying it was one of his favorite expansions .

Coincidentally, I’ve actually been turned a bit off to XIV in recent years for much of the same reasons that turned me off to WoW in past expansions.

The over-emphasis on the role triangle causing homogenization and pruning of classes and playstyles over time for the sake of balance, non-stop vertical gear progression with the same four “+Primary Stat, +Stamina/Vitality, +Secondary Stat 1, +Secondary Stat 2” setup, the simplification/removal of many rpg mechanics and stats, trivial normal mode gameplay and hyper-tuned top-end content…

These two games and their development are far more alike than they are different if you look past the surface level graphics and visuals.

This man is what is soooooo good about WoW. This is IMO a guarantee on why even when I quit it that I come back like 7 months later.

Isn’t it normal to change your opinion over the course of 3 years.

I really enjoyed SL, but likely as it was my first experience of WoW but :100: ack that DF does a lot of stuff better.

Thats not a change of opinion, they only changed their tune because they were trying to defend this boring expansion. No one goes, “its one of my favorites” to " omg, it was terrible!"

Ahh point understood. They totally flipped.

Or you could show some self restraint and not click on a thread that will trigger you. Not sure why you feel the need to try to control other peoples conversations when you have the ability to remove yourself from those.

Moo!

I don’t mind if people don’t like FFXIV. It’s when they try to pass off their opinions as objective truths that bothers me. Opinions are not objective

GD isn’t prepared for furnie economics

I can support this, however I’m gonna have to throw in a Atari 2600 > ALL. Only reason I say that is 43 years later mine still works!!

gets up on stage im going to let you finesh but gw2 is the best of all time

I actually enjoy a good discussion on what’s good and bad about various games and who does what best.

What gets tiresome after awhile are the ones who post about other MMOs thinking they’re somehow scoring points against Blizzard by doing so…

But in reality Blizzard doesn’t care and these goobers aren’t nearly as edgy as they think they are.

It’s always so satisfying to watch insecure FF14 players trashing on World of Warcraft especially on the World of Warcraft forums. And most of them would go so hard on defending their “favorite” game and being negative or salty about this game in this case World of Warcraft. These folks are so insecure that they have to attack World of Warcraft because they fear that the Worldsoul saga could bring down their favorite mmo and that World of Warcraft could reclaim the number one spot again. Which to me is entertaining to watch.

Repeating yourself with the exact same wording from a different thread doesint help your case and only serves to show who is really insecure.
