It’s childish if that’s the only way you can win an argument by changing someone else’s words. I also get the feeling that who ever does it to someone else feels all empowered. - It’s hubris.
I had a Hubris once. Not as good as my Hudson. Well, okay, that Hudson rattled like a con full of marbles. Still it was okay. Neither was as good as my Jeep. The best was an Army surplus Dodge Power wagon. That thing could climb a telephone pole if you goosed it a couple of times.
It’s not about “winning an argument” by changing someone else’s words. It’s about suggesting that what they intended was different from the words they used.
