Quill of Correspondence letters done!

All the ember court best friend letters were found by Laytis (I couldn’t find them, was just adding them as I got them) and I’ve added everything to the quill of correspondence page! Most of it is just character depth for various important shadowlands people, but there are some interesting possible implications, and some cool stuff:

  • Cryptkeeper Kassir mentions a soul he has been watching is “unusual” in his second letter, and his third letter mentions a soul was stolen. Possibly the same soul? Maybe Garrosh?

  • It’s implied by Grandmaster Vole’s letters we actually do canonically fight the same beings in the arena multiple times (which makes sense, as Mistress Dyrax would just go back to the Twisting Nether each time we kill her, but also makes you wonder if she respawns in the same location in the Twisting Nether so the Brokers just stay stationed there to capture her again)

  • Stonehead and Cudgelface learned to read and write to be able to write back to us

  • Alexandros has zero idea what has been going on in Azeroth after he died (oof) but plans to talk with us after the campaign is done

  • Polemarch Adrestes in his first letter is concerned about the fate of the shadowlands, then in his second letter he starts relaxing and mentions he almost laughed and smiled in front of the other Kyrians (which he implies is bad), but in the third letter he’s chill and is excited to gossip with the other military leaders at the Ember Court. This demonstrates a character progression that you don’t see if you’re Kyrian that explains how he became so open to the Forsworn in 9.1 campaign.

  • We ask the Countess an unknown question for her third letter, and is planning to ask around the Redelav District among the nobles.

  • Vashj calls us her friend  and reveals to us Maldraxxi can be banned from the arena for sucking and losing too often

Thanks for posting this! I have to be honest, all the little flavor details and conversations with the various characters is a major reason for why I prefer the Ember Court over the other covenant features.

Alexandros. Buddy. Dude. Your son is right there in Oribos and he’s conveniently aware of most things that have happened on Azeroth since you died. Don’t ask me what’s been going on, go talk to him!

I love that Marileth has a recurring thing about being fascinated by Revendreth’s muck, dredgers, and finding out whether or not they are slime adjacent.

I rather like how Lady Moonberry enchants her messages so that while you actually see them, everyone else sees the behind of Bwonsamdi.

It does however make me wonder what the other attendants at the party must think of her, and you by extension.

I want to see Bwonsamdi’s behind lol

A dad written by Blizzard being emotionally vulnerable with their son!??! Madness, you can only do that after you die (Varian’s letter to Anduin).

In all honesty I think canonically, all of these letters occur at the start of the narrative, even before the campaign quests.

Reason why I think that is:

  • Chamberlain is killed very early in the Venthyr campaign, so they cease to be his goons
  • Darion is rescued during the Bolvar bit of the campaign
  • etc

See THIS is how you do a flavor toy! Between this is and 8.2.5’s “random civilian comments” … do more of these sort of things Blizz. Its a good way to naturally inject lore and life into a world, without taking up too much development time or assets. Not an excuse not to put good work into the main content mind you, but this sort of stuff really adds to it. Now if we could just get good story AND more of this sort of stuff we’d be good.

Marileth once again proves he is the best character in the xpac. Kevin for next Margrave of Plagues please.

If it were literally anyone other than Alexandros and Darion, I’d agree, but these two are at their most emotionally vulnerable around each other and have always been shown as such. Alexandros has always been pretty open about how much he adores his youngest son, both when talking to other people and when addressing Darion directly. He notably wasn’t as open about how much he loved Renault, which of course fed into Renault’s resentment and later actions, but Darion has always known how much Alexandros loves him, because Alexandros has made multiple speeches about it to him. For that matter, Darion’s not shy about showing his affection for his father either, even after becoming a death knight.

A good point. However, in the case of Alexandros and Darion, we rescue them both in the same questline, and we rescue Darion literally minutes before Alexandros before leaving the Maw with both of them in tow. We even see both of them in Oribos afterward, both saying essentially, “I’ve got duties I must uphold right this moment, but I swear that we’ll talk at length later.” Just…actually do that, please. I’m just terrified that something will happen to one of them before they have a chance to talk, because the Mograine name is synonymous with tragedy and angst.

Why is she classified as a shivarra when her model is a succubus?

This just adds on to the mystery of why the Winter Queen dislikes Bwomsamdi…

No, her model on live is a Shivarra, she was a Succubus during beta (ergo why Vole calls her a sayaad).

Someone should change that screenshot then.

the caption says “in the beta” lol

I´m not sure if he´s the best character of the expac, but he´s deffinitely my favorite out of all the Maldraxxi characters (I scream like a pre-pubescent schoolgirl everytime I see Marileth, I adore him).

O.o

You deffinitely don´t play… Dyrax appeared with the Shivarra model since launch.
