The kitchen fires aren’t fully stoked yet, but the RP is. Ready for play.
Counted 20 visitors at one point last night. & there were definitely more overall. Seemed like a great mix of friends old & new.
Thank you everyone! Moving to Sri-La felt like a huge risk (OOC). You’ve given us the confidence to do even more.
Has been a very fun, relaxing event both times I’ve been, and very welcoming to newcomers!
Also, the Wanderer’s Festival was super neat and I can’t believe I’ve never been before now
April dates posted.
3 Sundays in a row is extraordinary & not likely to happen again. It’s an effort to get back to our usual pattern.
Still working on what additional get-together to shoot for in April. speaking of which …
Some possibilities for future additional (possibly recurring) activities in no particular order:
- Caravanserai in Kun-Lai (a bit of teahouse, a bit of potluck, a bit of bazaar, either in One Keg or Grummle Bazaar)
- Tea on the Terrace (alternating between Boralus Harbor & Grand Bazaar)
- Roleplay Rehearsal ( for both veteran players & those new to rp: help out those wanting to learn about RP mechanics, work out character backstories & profiles, give an experimental alt a whirl, discuss mogs, etc. So we’d set up some kind of designated OOC channel & be a bit looser on the fourth wall of staying IC, held at the teahouse )
- Hand-basket Holiday sort of a potluck picnic, somewhere nice (whatever that means)
- Faire-ly Fun teahouse-style nomming - in the refreshments area of Darkmoon Fair. Possibly with a touch of fun eeriness (hint … Something Wicked This Way Comes carousel)
- Morning Tea something to suit a frequent topic of discussion amongst our early risers & time zone émigrés.
- Shindig at the Shore an afternoon into evening beach bbq: planned activities & go-with-the-flow fun. “There’s this great beach in Krasarang the tourists don’t know about …” with a touch of classic 1960s SoCal Tiki Culture done Azeroth-style.
I’d like to do at least some on a day other than Sundays. some are already on the “definitely do” list, some in the “if there’s enough interest” pile. many more possibilities as well, i’m sure.
This is your big chance to influence the future of Quilen & Cloud Teahouse. So bump the thread with comments about whatever from the above strikes your fancy or gets you going.
All sound pretty good to me!
Admittedly, Morning Tea would prolly not be attended by me, but I’m sure it’d be good for some people…
The Faire one wins my top vote for most potential!
All ideas sound great! The Fair, any potlucks and Morning Tea would get my vote.
Awful late reportin’ in, but that was a good time! Thanks fer havin’ us, y’all!
Tomorrow night!
If you haven’t tasted the deep-fried honeyed sweet buns inspired by Ingheti you’re missing a real treat.
There’s a stack of empty to-go containers waiting to be filled with anything on the menu. (TRP-X versions coming soon).
Teahouse tonight. and with Darkmoon Fair in town, it’s a good time to stock up on inky black potions.
Teahouse will open in about 5 minutes. I know it’ll be slow til after Brightmoon’s event. But just in case …
We had a great time last night! see you in a couple of weeks.
With people trying out new character types - allied races & such - and with more people testing the waters to see if RP is something they want to do, …
It seems like a good time to have an easy, casually-paced meet & learn night. To contribute support to that I’d like to schedule a “during the week” teahouse for later this month. The idea is for well-established players to come on their regular characters (or take the opportunity to try out new ones), act as they would on a regular evening, and also help out with answering questions, help people practice the mechanics, and so on. We’ll give people more leeway while also doing our best to maintain separation of IC & OOC communication channels.
If anyone who is definitely interested (veteran or new to RP) has a strong preference for what day of the week to do this, now is the time to post it here. Personally, I’m thinking either a Tuesday or a Thursday so as not to compete with the many once-a-month events scheduled on Wednesdays. But I’m very flexible on that.
If it goes well, we might even set it up as a recurring thing.
Some chats in other channels tend to confirm either a Tuesday or Thursday as the most likely days of the week for hosting a “roleplay rehearsal” get together. Still plenty of time to give your input.
Teahouse this Sunday - 7 PM, Sri-La Inn.
IC translation available if you do not have elixir of tongues.
If you have not seen the current menu:
tinyurl.com/QCTspring2020
IC the menu is the scroll on the pillar next to the counter.
NB: upstairs is Kunbo’s private living quarters. Expect a similar reaction to what would happen irl if you walked into someone’s apartment uninvited.
currently thinking to do the RP learning & character trials thing Tuesday the 28th at the teahouse at the usual time, Will post more details & perhaps an announcement thread once we’re sure.
Looking ahead - for the next special event …
i’ve noticed an upswing of interest in “caravan” RP. So considering a caravanserai - part bazaar / part meetup for IC socializing / part opportunity to advance whatever story arcs you’d like to in a supportive public setting.
Please be sure to let me know of your interest & comments on either topic.
Kunbo will be busy in the afternoon getting in a fresh stock of veggies from the Valley. Should be back in Sri-La well before 7 PM. Looking forward to spending the evening at the teahouse with friends old & new.
there’s a possibility we may run out of deep-fried buns before the evening is over. Just sayin’
taking a dinner break now. Switching mental gears from some afternoon rp. see you all in Sri-La.
What a wonderful teahouse experience! And lovely conversation. Kunbo is an awesome host. I look forward to the next events!
Thank you! We never know what to expect. Old regulars (IC), long-time players on new characters, or friends we’ve never met - we had some of each last night.
Last night was lots of fun. I hope to have May dates posted by the end of the week.
