So my main did everything and now I wanted to level up the ring on my alts, should I just do the quests?
People say you get pieces from rares is that all rares or just the event rares? And it doesn’t seem to be 100% either

Ive found its just faster to knock out the quests. Any extra upgrade tokens you do loot is just a bonus

All rares. My hunter got one off a rare and I was just there to farm the currency.

Hiya. Had a returning character. Found it fastest to just spam rares.
If your main has flying your alts do too, you can just zoom around.

I’m doing a mixture of quests and chests/rares. Been having good luck getting the upgrades from the cave elites and chests (and in storm). I do “Dipping a Toe” and The Storm quest as that is simply enter storm, grab nuke, enter vehicle and wait for ? to pop back up and complete it.
Then I do the Storm weekly, but I don’t use the vehicle, just the bombs so I can open chests in the storm, they have had a good % of containing the ring upgrade for me.
On fresh 80’s I will do the majority of quests and I will have 2 quests up in Dornagol - do 6 WQ and collect 100 frags, those both have a chance of a half decent piece of gear, gold and crests etc - this can all be completed on Siren isle while getting ring upgrades. My latest 80 to get the ring got a lucky 16K Gold Pinnacle Cache yesterday.
Takes about an hour to get a fresh 80 to 603-606 ilvl and pocket full of gold.

Just did an alt, only needed 2 upgrades, first one I did, to kill the 3 little treasure hunters. Got 2 weeklies from Dorn - 6 WQ and 100 Frags - got all the quests on the Isle done, the weekly and the storm - opened a chest in the storm phase for the last upgrade, didn’t even pick up the quest for it.
22 minutes, all I need now are 50 more frags and I’ll get those from a couple of Delves, I could continue opening chests but I want to get a couple of Delves done anyway on this character.
On all my alts I found the ring upgrades just doing normal world stuff in the zone. I found many of them from the chest around the map. It was actually pretty quick.

I just did the quests on my alts. Overall they take less than an hour to do with flying. You’ll probably get a couple tokens while stopping to open chests and killing rares. Just QOL stuff to lower time investment.
Quests give a substantial amount of flame-blessed iron as well if you’re buying the cosmetics.

I just took a new 80 to siren isle. First did all bosses and yellow quests. open boxes got two upgrades from those one from a boss and one from a quest Dipping your toes. I am now fully up graded ring.
