Quick question for those familiar with Dragonriding?

Morning all and happy wee hours o’ Monday! My no-deaths run is continuing nicely and OMG getting Dragonflight blue BoE upgrades is just CRAZY! About a thousand or so gold spent and I more than doubled my HP, Armor, and offensive abilities! No more nagas smacking me for 60% of my health in one hit, now I’m wrecking things once again

Anyway, quick question - I hit 65 and got the starter quest for the Dragonriding chain. So my question is, with Dragonriding, is it a possibility to get dismounted from your Dragon in midair and potentially fall to your death? This is my first time so want to be prepared and ready to hit the Goblin Glider if necessary and/or stay close to the ground so I don’t blow my run.

Thanks all and have a great week ahead!

in waking shores around the citadel area theres a no fly zone some mob targets you and dismounts you mid air

Awesome, thanks for the tip! I’ll be sure to watch out for that area. In general though, can you get “unhorsed” in midair in normal flying areas? :slightly_smiling_face:

Since you’re a druid, I highly suggest considering Wild Charge. That way, if you do get knocked off your mount or if a herb decides to throw you off a cliff, you can travel form and wildcharge right before you hit the ground to negate fall damage.
It’s saved my behind many a time.

EDIT: I just noticed thats a classic druid… Oops.
WELL IF YOU HAVE ANOTHER DRUID, keep that in mind.

All my Dragonflying buttons are together. And next to it is my favorite ground mount. There are few occassions, i misclick when i am up there… i sometimes mistakenly click my ground mount. That’s when i fall. But i am a hunter. I press disengage at the last moment before touching the ground saving me from dying.

Oh! Classic Emma is my “Main” and where I raid and chat with my Classic friends. But I’m playing her on retail also, I just leave my account on the Classic version on the forums for ease. Retail Emma is 65 now as mentioned hehe. And thanks for the tip! I will look into Wild Charge!

@Jakesulli - Gotcha, thank you! I have a stack of Goblin Glider Kits in my bags for emergencies… just am wondering if like, a mob or enemy can knock you off of your Dragon in mid-air like I think they can your normal mount?

Only time I’ve fallen from dragonriding is when I forgot to change my bar back to the main and tried to hit upward and instead, hit my fishing pole.

I died. It was spectacular.

Nothing can knock you from your mount while dragonriding, that I know of. At least not in pve. I haven’t pvp’d yet so Idk about that.

Oof! Well, if you have to die, good for it to be a spectacular death!

And thanks for the info. I don’t PvP so that shouldn’t be a consideration. Unless I get myself into a pickle inadvertently lol.

It is not possible to “fall off” your dragonriding mount in midair unless you are in the Djaradin anti-air zone around the Keep (as previously mentioned) or by being dismounted in PvP as mentioned. If you run out of vigor, you won’t be able to use any abilities, but you will still glide on your dragon safely to the ground.

Just don’t cancel the mount-up by using any other abilities and you’ll never have to worry about fall damage.

I have wondered if you can actually get dazed off of a dragon riding mount. But all of my characters have the anti-daze equipment, and I haven’t bothered to check. Hell, I don’t even know if mount equipment works on dragon riding mounts…

Awesome, thanks for all of the input! I’m going to begin the quest chain once I get a little more caffeine in me and wake up a bit more. Good to know that I can’t get dazed/knocked off of the Dragonriding mounts unless I do it to myself

Yes. You can be dazed off your mount if you accidentally fly too close to something and get auto’d. At full speed, I’ve gotten dismounted. But I’m also a nerd who flies low to the ground sometimes because I like doing spins and stuff through tight corners. If you fly straight in the air and then go to where you gotta go, you should be fine, unless you fly by a seagull or something too close.

Oh gotcha… I’ll be careful and stay close to the ground until I get the hang of it! Do Goblin Glider Kits still work to save you if you get dismounted in Dragonflight?

I don’t plan on flying much as I try to complete this no-deaths run, mainly just to grab herbs and get to areas unreachable from the ground as necessary. :slightly_smiling_face:

Oh yeah if you get dismounted by accident, quickly slapping your goblin glider will be fine. You should be good.

Awesome, thank you so much!! :heartpulse:

that’s one reason why I play a tank no daze no worries. :stuck_out_tongue:

That makes good sense!! :smiley_cat:

Someone else mentioned it too, but mount equipment might actually work on dragon riding mounts. I hadn’t thought about that. But that’s something you can look into.

Also. You’re welcome. I hope you have fun.

I’m guessing they all do, since I know the water walking equipment does. I completely forgot I even had it and was confused when I was walking across the water after a mining node at some point.
