Quick Question, Double Crafting?

I got a noobish question, Is it viable to have 2 crafting professions for self sustain?

lets say, Blacksmith and Alchemy for a prot pally.

Please let me know, i’d appreciate it

I have a JC and blacksmith on one toon. Initially I maxed weapons on my BS and did quite a lot of crafts. I never got the lariat recipe but did ok with JC - 10.0.7 made JC quite useful for a brief period. It works fine.

I believe this is the first expansion such an idea would be feasible, for income at least. Still would have to put some work into it.
