Quick Interest Check

So, to preface this, I have already formed the guild I’m going to be talking about. It doesn’t have any officers or much in the way of membership (both members are dear friends that have vested interests elsewhere), so this is mostly the core of the reason for my interest check.

To cut to the chase, I have formed a schism in the Argent Crusade. Templar Iustina Vesta has grown weary of the Argent Crusade’s inability to properly “vanquish all evil” as it promised, and seeks to remedy this issue through a secret group. The Path of Radiance, as it stands, is not an enemy of the Argent Crusade. In fact, it would consider open conflict with their brethren to be a sign that their cause has failed.

So what will make us different from any old Lordaeron guild? I can’t say I know how to answer that question, since I’ve not been invested in this server’s history for very long. What I can tell you, however, is that though the Argent Crusade is Lordaeron-centric, it has long been a global organization. It had more than a few agents in Kalimdor before the Cataclysm.

That would ultimately be the focus of the guild. We would be a secret pact formed by disgruntled and disillusioned Argent Crusaders far too tired of the convenient good that the modern Argent Crusade stands for. When any nation, creed, or organization commits itself to evil or welcomes evil within its bosom, it should be the Argent Crusade’s duty to return them to justice or to vanquish them. The Path of Radiance shall act decisively to deter evil, to redeem souls lost to evil, or to vanquish those truly forever beyond the Light’s reach.

We wouldn’t be a strictly militaristic order, no more than the Argent Crusade is, and instead see to more altruistic endeavors. Healing the land, aiding refugees, and even tending to the sick and wounded. But, our aggressive nature shall require us to take up arms against the forces of darkness.

An example of an early campaign would be: “A shadow has fallen over [INSERT LOCATION HERE]. Lord Maxwell Tyrosus has seen fit that the Argent Crusade steps in to aid this ailing land, and to discover the sickness at its core.” From there, the Path of Radiance would join their Argent brethren to assist this area. While there, we may find that the source of it stems from a member of the Horde of the Alliance, and that they cannot be stopped without force. Or that stopping them might create a diplomatic incident. Thus, the Argents can only provide token aid. It’d be up to the Path of Radiance to play the political game, as well as a game of subterfuge, to remove this stain and to keep the Argent Crusade’s name radiant and clean.

Are you picking up what I’m putting down? Are you catching my cold?

Does that sound like something you’d be interested in? If so, tell me! I’ve got more ideas than what I’ve listed above, but I don’t wish to overwhelm too much. I’m a chronic over-sharer.

Hi Iustina! We RPed on my Pally the other day at the Cathedral. This is definitely a unique guild idea and I think you’d find a good amount of success with it. I love the Argent Crusade so I think this is something I’d be open to getting involved with.

Thank you for the RP!

I think this is a great idea.

A lot of these ‘Argent but different and usually darker/more pragmatic’ guilds I’ve run into/been in over the years have either been what amounts to Scarlet guilds in a different tabard, or they had a bit of a smarmy tone about them as if they looked down on the rest of the Crusade for being too good and honorable.

That being said the key difference, to me, between your idea and what I’ve seen over the years is this part:

I think this provides more room for introspection on the subterfuge this order might partake in. More room for a member of this secret pact to question if their work is truly just even if necessary, and if this is the legacy they should impart on the Crusade.

As well, your campaign idea was great, and it provides a great in for Crusaders who might be especially tired of the seemingly endless faction war.

I’m just coming back to the game after a long break and trying to catch up on content with friends, but if you’re still looking for people in a week or two I would be interested in joining.

If I am still looking for people by then, I’ll definitely hit you up!
