Seeing a lot of posts about the changes to Aff in Shadow lands. In particular how clunky the many DoTs are, and how the new Malefic Rapture spell really crosses over into territory that should rightfully belong to Destruction.
My quick fix is this; Rework MR entirely. Make its so that casting MR refreshes the timers of all Aff DoTs by a certain amount (5 seconds? 7?) and applies a bonus to shadow bolt or drain soul over that same period of time.
Problem Solved?

Don’t fix what isn’t broken. Aff just needs quicker dot application.

It’s a cute idea but I agree with Zyyras. The issue isn’t so much MR as much as old design that’s held Aff back before.
It’s very obvious MR exists because the UA spender was too good.

I love creative ideas. Would be interesting with Nightfall and drain soul.
Maybe even add drain life to the buff pool.

Make MR do diminishing dmg based on the number of dots applied instead of a flat dmg increase per dot. So like instead of each dot adding 700 dmg. At 1 dot it will do 1000 dmg, adding a second dot will add 800, a 3rd dot will add 600, etc. This will make MR actually worth casting even if all dots aren’t up on the target and decrease the ramp up time need to start dishing our dmg. Also, we can still choose to apply additional dots to get even more dmg out but its not needed right away. Obviously change the numbers/math but you get the idea.

Too good st and too bad aoe
Ramp up time would be greatly diminished if primary dots (agony, corruption, siphon life) were taken off the global cooldown. It would also make aoe a lot stronger.
If not all of them perhaps just agony?
