They actually fixed this in legion and again in bfa with scaling. It was perfect.
But bad battleground only elitists complained because they couldn’t one shot newbies with their manly, hard earned, bis pvp gear.
Blizzard succumbed to the pressure.

I liked the premade gear scaling but it sucked because they gave certain classes secondary stats that were terrible for them
The solution exist in 10.2, But they said nothing about applying it to the regular BG’s
Item Scaling
For Battleground Blitz, the item level for equipped gear above 312 item level will scale to 472 (4 item levels below Dragonflight season 3 Honor gear), similar to how gear scaling currently works for other unranked modes. The scaling is limited to 312 and above to avoid potential issues with over-scaling stats on items from previous expansions.
Players will also need to be at a minimum item level of 330 to queue for the brawl.\

They were actually templates, and it didn’t work because you couldn’t do anything about whatever secondary stats you got.
It also made gear essentially meaningless. Players like to feel power progression with their characters.
I knew it.
There is scaling, they just never updated it after season 1.

It was updated, actually. In s1 it only scaled to 359.

Oh wow, I didn’t know about that. It seems really low for the actual Ilvl.
I didn’t see if there was or wasn’t crafted pvp gear in season 3. But that would be the expected intention from blizzard and why the scaling is much lower. To make crafted PVP gear useful.
How do you initially get honor gear without being able to queue for bgs mate?
Honor gear s more than enough to play bgs. Knowing how bgs are won plays a bigger role
Like on silvershard mines when peoole go for the furthest away cart and sit there guarding it lmao or when they FINALLY go for lava they just let a horde player change the tracks. I usually try to tell people what to do and most of the times goes well but sometimes theres nothig I can do.
Yesterday we had a very low geared group but we managed to quickly 2 cap on twin peaks. What happened next? The bulk of the groyp goes mid and just gets wiped over and over instead of going for third cap. And just like that they reverse 3 cap us with a hunter running all alone just chilling.
Tldr: honor gear alone is bad, honir gear plus brains beats conquest anyday

But it didn’t though. Queueing without full honor gear is the point of unrated battlegrounds. You play randoms to get honor to get the gear. Then this thread got derailed into something even worse.
