Queues Regardless of Layers?

Yes, you say that now. Which sort of defeats the whole point you made in the past about layering resolving the issue of queues.

Are you dumb or trolling… I cannot tell honestly…

Hogger 3000 players at launch 70% quit… DEAD SERVER!!!

No, I’ve been saying it since May when Patrick Dawson said it. You just can’t apparently keep multiple concepts in your head at once.

Oh, I forgot you’re a troll that uses ad hominems. I’ll be ignoring you from now on.

“Since” includes “now.”

Oh look. Here’s me saying it in May. And I’ve been still saying it ever since.

A 500 person queue is vastly different to a 15,000 person queue.

Facts and simple MATH

3000 server cap no layering 70% quit 900 left…

DEAD SERVER!!!

Because layering lets you have a significantly higher cap without having to queue.

Sure, which is not how it was in vanilla. That doesn’t answer why layering is necessary though.

Why do you need a significantly higher cap before queues start happening?

Good grief people. I wasn’t trying to start a fight. I really just didn’t know if it was likely or fear mongering.

It sounds to me like it’s more a probability than possibility from what I’m reading. I hope it’s just my naïveté and that I’m worrying for nothing.

Idc what this does or doesn’t reveal about why or if we really need layering. I just don’t want to have to endure queues after already waiting so long to finally play Classic.

Can’t we all just get along. Sheesh.

There are no differences we can have that are more important than the fun we can have together in Classic!

Because the OTHER reason they’re adding layering… So that when the tourists from both sides (retail and pservers) quit and go away, the server can still maintain a healthy population.

There are servers that opened in vanilla and until raid finder, entire factions were unable to step foot in a raid because there just wasn’t enough people online at the same time, ever. Blizzard learned for the mistakes of the Onyxia server.

That doesn’t make sense. If the tourists quit and go away, the queues will go away, and the realms will maintain a healthy population.

That doesn’t answer why you need to let more people log in at the same time, though.

It sounds like the mistake was opening more realms than necessary.

If there weren’t enough people online at the same time, ever, then why would RAISING THE CAP help with that at all?

If the cap is 3,000, and you only have 1,000, why is raising the cap to 9,000 (or whatever the cap will be with layering) necessary?

So let’s assume it’s a lot of tourists. Maybe 2 for every 1 that stay. So on a 3,000 player limit until you get a queue, that would mean that eventually 2,000 of those people quit, leaving you with only 1,000 on the server. But if you’re using layering and being able to have a 12,000 person limit, then 8,000 would leave, but you’d be left with 4,000 active players.

What server would you rather play on: One with 1,000 players which was one of the many dead servers, or one with 4,000 players to build a very strong community with?

That only makes sense if there’s literally no one in the queue.

How can you have queues AND dead realms?

Or how it would ACTUALLY work with no layering:

3,000 players in the realm, 9,000 in the queue.
2/3 people leave, which means…
3,000 players, 1,000 in the queue.

I’m seriously hoping you understand how incredibly stupid intentionally allowing a 9,000 person queue is.

And seriously, all this just because you might not see the same one person out of the thousands the next time you log on. That’s literally what you’re all complaining about. All the exploits and everything, well, that’s the entire purpose of a beta test, and a lot of the problems are already addressed

When the game is FRESH and people are TOURING it… there WILL be queues…

When they LEAVE if there is NO LAYERING and only servers with 3000 caps THEY DIE…

It is simple… its almost as if you think these things people are talking about are not mutually exclusive…is that simple enough for you?

I hope you understand how incredibly stupid it is to offer Classic as a recreation of vanilla and then change it so that it is no longer vanilla. A queue of 9,000 during a LAUNCH is not that bad at all. If 2/3 of those people leave, as you suggest, then a 1,000 queue leftover is perfectly reasonable.

There’s a lot more wrong with layering than just that.

Dude… it was TERRIBLE… did you even play back then… That would have taken hours to sit through… And do you think the people who quit are going to do it that second…

Do you have ANY ability to exercise intelligent foresight??

I agree there is a lot wrong with layering. But it is the necessary evil the devs have landed on… because so many people cried about sharding… what they should have maintained.

Either or it should not last long at all…

You think they went with layering to punish us for asking for vanilla servers?

That is an interesting one.
