Queueing on 'classic' dungeons?

Hi there.

I was away from World of WarCraft since 2010 or 2012, just before the Cataclysm expansion came out.

I recently returned to the game and I noticed I was only able to queue to either Shadowlands or Lord of Draenor (if I am not mistaken) dungeons. I cannot put myself on queue for previous expansions dungeon such as Ragefire Chasm (Vanilla) or Blood Furnace (Burning Crusade).

I know that are especialized game client to play WoW classic, but I am not interested in them. I am interested on playing both with my new character (Holy Pally 20) or my old characters that are in a different level range from 30 to 40 (after I noticed that Blizzard lowered their level, from the previous level 80 on WoTLK).

Is there any ways to queue on ‘classic dungeons’? The reason is that I miss playing them at the current game engine.

You have to find Chromie. You’re Horde so I think she’s in Orgrimmar but I’m not sure where, but it should be easy to find on google. She’ll allow you to enable timewalking and choose the expansion content you want to level in. Once you do that, you’ll be able to queue for dungeons from that expansion as you normally would

A few things to keep in mind though…

  • If you pick an expansion that not many people are playing at the moment, it can take a while to find a dungeon. The game will actually let you know and ask if you want to expand your search to other expansions.
  • Once you hit 50 you get unceremoniously kicked out of time walking and will be unable to do old content, even for no xp. At that point you’ll need to move on to shadowlands content to continue your journey.

Oh, here… wowhead has an article on it

You’ll want to choose “Cataclysm” for the classic stuff (a lot of it was redone in WoD, after you stopped playing).

That’s exactly what I want! Thank you!

As a side note, I own Vanilla, BC, WotLK, and Cataclysm. I don’t own Mists of Pandaria, Warlods, nor Legion. I will test it out what would happen if I try to switch over to any of these contents.

You’re welcome

Also, these days, there’s two versions of the game… the current expansion and then the rest. You’ll for sure be able to access all legacy content up to and including Battle for Azeroth. Once you hit 50, whether or not you can do Shadowlands content depends on whether or not you purchased Shadowlands.

I think that’s how it works, anyway
