Queued in to Mostly Casters Tonight

This was the most enjoyable and interesting que session I’ve had all BfA and Legion long, only saw one team with a DH instead of every team with a DH for a change and there were so many people who weren’t melee, it was absolutely fantastic!

This forum has long taken up the cause of melee but they often forget that melee usually have an easier time overall taking on enemies without assistance while the top casters in the eyes of most PvP’ers are the casters who have the most instant cast spells that can turn the tide of the match, those who have the most hard cast spells tend to have the roughest time in PvP.
Yes, that is a generalising statement but deep down in your heart you know there’s a lot of truth to it, why else do Mages never ever talent out of Shimmer? Because it’s the only way they can reliably land hard cast spells.

Put it this way, I’d take queuing in to every Ele team right now over having to sit through yet another night of double melee teams with little variance, it’s just not fun to get trained regardless of whether you win or not.

It takes a special type of IQ to enjoy playing melee in this xpac

? casters pve just as much as melee what are you on about playing a caster was the easiest 2500+ I ever did…

Yeah alright, I’ll just go and Arcane Blast my way to 2500+ and…oh wait I can’t because I’ll just get kicked.

Every class in the game possesses at least one baseline kick or silence effect, zero classes in the game possess any baseline disarms; meanwhile roots which are intended to be the core counter to melee are also highly useful in Arena against a caster or a healer, not to mention there are many abilities which can be self-cast to break snare and root effects.

I heard juking is hard. Can you confirm?

Does PvE have juking?

Barry Sanders was good at juking.

It still blows my mind people have this weird complex that playing a caster is some magic 300IQ feat

Guess i should run boomy and big bang noobs

No one here said that, only you are implying that.

Let’s be honest though, the closer a caster is to being an actual caster the worse off they tend to do in PvP overall, Mage being an exception because Shimmer affords them the reliable space to get hard casts off.

so with your logic shadow priests and destro locks are bad because they have to actually cast spells to do damage?

you are aware that both of those specs are really good right now right?

Biiigggg daaammmm

Destro has 3 separate schools to use and an aura mastery meaning kicks don’t do a whole lot to them, Shadow brings rot damage and a lot more survivability than it did last patch (where they became viable due to a gimmick talent).

However, notice they both bring instant cast cc that helps to cover hardcast abilities.

that aura mastery is a 3 minute cooldown that 90% of the time isnt even used for the aura mastery aspect of it.

and if you think edge of insanity was the only thing that made spriest viable last patch idk what to tell you

im kinda curious as to what your definition of “caster” is

all dude is saying is melee is straight forward to play.

connecting isn’t hard as melee and even when being trained as melee you can still output a majority of your dps.

Melee is easier to play. This has been the truth since S1 and will continue to be the truth until the servers are turned off. The most responsibility a melee class has is focus/tab interrupt/stun. It used to be that they at least had to be more tactical at maintaining up-time due to a smaller amount of gap closers, but that’s about it. If you find this to be at odds with your observations, I doubt you have played both casters and melee over a significant portion of WoW’s history. Blizzard catered to the lowest common denominator as time went on and Activision doubled down on this. Why do you think all new classes have been melee?
