Queue for Blitz?

First, learn how to play before queuing. It’s easy; there are guides. It’s annoying to see that you’re going to a base that’s blocked and has a 2k rating.

How does a base end up with a 2k rating?

Battle for gilneas’s WW base is def 2k+ considering the large advantage alliance side can capitalize on it at blitz.

How are people supposed to learn how to play Blitz when the game UI does such a bad job at showing players the information they actually need to know?
Remember, 80% of the player base doesn’t watch videos, read the forums, visit reddit or other sites, or even join a Discord server about the game.

We need more players in PvP, not fewer. Telling 80% of the player base that they are not allowed to PvP is a little counter productive, don’t you think?

Also, if you’re matched with that player, that means the game thinks you and them are at the same rating. Have you tried explaining to them it’s a locked base?

If a player with a 2000+ CR was at an inactive node, it’s probably because he was anticipating a forced flag cap. For instance, if the score is 600–1200, with the enemy team controlling 1 tower and the flag, and your team has a DK and a warlock near the EFC, so your team cannot win directly by killing the EFC but has the potential to force a cap and slow down all the enemies efficiently. In that case, I’d definitely position myself at an inactive node as a last-ditch effort.

I got a message like this: why were you at a grayed tower? N00b, you need to learn to play! My DK alt also got a message asking why did you tell people to go to an inactive tower? My DK actually successfully forced a cap and slowed down every enemy and we won by capping two towers.

Guess we just need to be more thick-skinned.

at the beginning of the battle?

Well, if it’s the beginning, he’s trolling. I bet more than one teammate have reported him for sabotaging the game.

I’ve made that mistake.
WHY ARE THE GRAY NODES THE ACTIVE NODES AND THE GOLD NODES THE INACTIVE NODES? It hurts my brain.

Before entering my first blitz I watched videos to see how it was played

And I think that’s a sign of something broken in the game when you have to literally watch How-To videos on how to play the maps. People should be able to jump right in and have all the basic information they need in-game.

This is such silly logic, how many things in life do you just randomly start doing and expect to do well at with zero preparation? We live in the information age, everything is readily available - if you choose to be lazy or unprepared that’s just you choosing to be a turd. :woman_shrugging:

Not that I disagree with the point, the game is awful at relaying relevant information, but there are ways to prepare for anything and everything.

Oh absolutely there are ways to prepare, but 80% of a game’s player base never goes outside of the game for anything about the game. If people need to watch videos before participating in PvP in WoW that already excludes 80% of the player base from ever trying PvP right off the top.

Absolutely.

Yes. This goes back to the days of tankspot and thottbot where everything had to be looked up first.

The game has kinda been holding our hand since Cata but it’s still expected that you do some legwork. And there are infinite resources for this nowadays.

Which is wild with the amount of time people spend scrolling tiktok, youtube or whatever else them there young folk use. We’re in the age of instant gratification where people want maximum reward for minimum effort. :woman_shrugging:

I get it. I was surprised by it at first too, but it’s true.
The numbers are only 20% of a game’s player base will visit any outside source of info or community for a game. And only 8% will actually interact by leaving comments, etc.

Even just thinking back to my friends in real life, I can count on like 2 fingers the number of them who actually ever looked anything up or watched videos about the games that they played. Most just logged on, played, and logged off.

Literally everyone who even reads these forums is a hardcore player just by being here. And I know from being on the developer side of projects that it’s actually a pain because you’ll never hear any feedback from those 92% of players because they’ll never go to your forums or Discord to leave said feedback.
Which means the only out of game feedback most games get, is from the most hardcore players.

Which is why I feel it’s important to try to speak for those players, as if we don’t, no one will. I want more people to participate in PvP. Making the UI actually functional and up to 2025 standards would be a step in the right direction at least.

It got blocked.

Alls im saying is if u show up to pick up basketball u better know how to dribble.

Nothing wrong with requiring 5 regular bg wins to do blitz or add unrated blitz and require 10 wins. Anything would be better than nothinG

I’m really hoping they add something like that or a PvP proving grounds that teaches you the basics of PvP and battleground maps.

“Hold this base against a npc rogue for as long as possible” would be a perfect scenario to earn the right to blitz

See fun things like that would be awesome! While it’s certainly no substitute for actual pvp experience, it would at least give new players a fighting chance.

Would also be cool as a place to test out new talents, etc. Imagine an arena/mini battleground, and you talk to a NPC and can configure it for different things like arena, CTF, or a domination map. Just something large enough for people to learn the basics and experiment in. Could even add AI players on both teams to play practice matches.

We know blizzard could easily do this. The proving grounds, scenarios, comp stomp, garrisons, island expeditions, etc prove they have the tech to do it.

What I imagine is some kind of quest chain people could go through, maybe once per expansion, that would teach them the basics of each mode, while giving them some pieces of honor or near-honor level gear for free. Could have one for arena, one for normal battlegrounds, one for epic battlegrounds, and one for blitz or something.

Lots of things they could do with it.

Also the battlegrounds should be put in the adventure guide so you can look up how they work (along with the blitz changes).
