Quests are boring and too predictable

Literally everything’s the same thing. You don’t have to even read the description of the quest 99% of the time. You can just click on accept, and your map tells you what you have to do, which is always “kill ten murlocs” “harvest 10 fel nuts” or “speak to this person standing right next to me because I’m lazy” what’s lazy is the way blizzard makes quests. Also, while we’re talking about laziness, the dungeons are all the same layout. You have a WHOLE TEAM of people and all your under water caves have the same whale shark entrance design? No, somethings wrong with a game when you copy and paste the same crap everywhere throughout the game. The issue I see is a lack of detail, yes, in world of warcraft, there isn’t enough detail. This is supposed to be your game man, the one that defines the genre of mmo. But aesthetically it’s pleasing, but overall very lazy. You need a terrain randomizer also, not the same patch of grass for miles…

Quests need failure chance. Scaled with level. If a quest is 3+ levels above you, 50% chance to fail. Scale downward as you get closer to character level.

Any quest 5+ above you should be automatic failure.

Am I doing this right?

If you want this to be a successful rant your argument needs to be more focused.

“Quests are boring and too predictable,” yet were talking about the terrain and underwater caves? Que?

I don’t know if this is just referring to BfA quests or what, but I’ve actually enjoyed doing a lot of the BfA quests. Some fun storylines and characters. Certainly a high point of BfA, for certain.

Sure, a number of them are “Kill X Dolly’s” and “Collect Y Dot” but that’s going to happen in any RPG, just some filler quests as the questline develops.

Lmao idk about the fail chance % but definitely factors that make it possible to fail! that’s a great idea man.

Edit 1. Because the % to fail randomizes the win rate, whereas factors that are contingent upon your skill, timing and haste would make more sense to “fail a quest” if you did not work hard.

If my Farseer can somehow fail to complete a quest, then they aren’t much of a Farseer.

Our characters are practically walking demi-gods at this point, the idea that they’d fail something like a regular quest / task after everything the characters been through is absurd.

It’s like the whole game is one giant filler for the next filler. I’m not trying to be negative but literally there’s three types of quests that dominate the game… that’s very uncreative.

Yet it still takes 5 of us to clear a dungeon. Must mean the BFA dungeons are 5000% more powerful than vanilla-LK raid bosses.

It used to be two types of quests that dominated the game. Kill or Fetch.

Scaling is always an issue when it comes to game mechanics, but if you follow the character story, we should be nearly on par, as players at this point, to some faction leaders. (Not all of them, some of them are -actually- demi-gods blessed by gods)

If you’d scaled up all our legendary items we’ve gained or artifacts kept whole, we’d be pretty unstoppable all things considered, but for gameplay purposes alot of that stuff gets trashed for the sake of progression in the game play.

I kinda wish some bosses retained their iconic status regardless of player level. The Lich King, for example, was at the time the most complicated and difficult fight (25H version) but now he’s little more than a fly on the wall to be swatted by a 120.

For the next 500 years…
3 in a row… Yaaa i got 4 in a row…
Or
Bam bam bam.
Bam bam bam…

To wow…
Look at all that stuff… Nice music …
Look at all that stuff…
Bam you are in group…
Oh look at all that stuff…

Like I said, it’s more of an issue with the gameplay, than anything.

We’ve fought off the legion, taken down the curropted soul of Argus (With help) not to mention our many other deeds. lol

Welcome to RPG’s.

I completely agree with everything you’ve said, Thearchitect. I don’t usually participate on the forums, but since it seems like Blizzard is beginning to listen to the community after all these years with the Classic release I figured I may as well add my voice to this conversation. The quests are redundant, the same thing over and over, & very boring fetch/kill quests. The very few entertaining quests usually have some cinematics & phasing with them. I still do the content because I want to do achievements to unlock things, but it does not mean I’m necessarily enjoying it. I really hope Blizzard takes that into consideration, that people aren’t necessarily enjoying content that they participate in, but see it as a means for something else.

The quests are mundane at this point, but whether I enjoy questing or not is usually about the setting, music, and storyline.

Those are pretty mediocre for the most part this expansion. The one zone that had a lot of potential, Nazmir, is ruined by terrible music.
