Questions on Lightforged

Im wondering what the minimum age for a Lightforged Draenei might be. Also if anyone has info on the timeline of events leading to the Xenedar splitting would be nice too. I want my Lightforged to not be 250000 years old. Could he have been born sometime just before the split? If so how long ago was that? Could he have been born on the ship within the last thousand years? Making him just under a thousand years of age, still making him an adult?

1000 years is barley an adult, if you are having trouble using a number just use terms like “adult” or “ancient”. Considering that the Lightforged Draenei fought on Argus for 1000 years and must have been somewhat matured before they became lightforged, means that the typical age is about 20 to 25 thousand years old.

I read that Draenei mature like humans. Only difference being after awhile they stop aging it seems. For how long is not stated.

I think that IS true, because it’s not like the Draenei are gonna stay kids for over a thousand years. Their age may still be considered 20,000 , but that doesn’t mean they are old. It would just mean that they mature fast (into a teen) and then the aging process begins to slow down. Its like it might take only 500 years for them to reach teen-hood, then 10,000 to reach adult-hood. Also, you can’t been born on Argus and be an adult, meaning that it probably takes at least a few thousand before they can even reach adult-hood.

From my understanding “mature like humans” would mean that they age like them. Reach teen years and adulthood about the same but then after a certain point of said aging they just dont physically wear down anymore. Which means a 16 year old Draenei and Human would essentially be the same thing both physically and mentally etc. Though I’m willing to admit this is my opinion. Im trying to get someones whos dug up the lore on this. (not saying you have not) Because im unsure if I can rp a 20,000 year old being. Lots of gaps to fill there. But alas i want to rp a Lightforged haha. Quite a pickle.

Yeah, in my opinion Lightforged is one of the hardest races to roleplay because the aging process isn’t really “stated” and everyone really thinks of it differently. Never the less, I love your approach on the aging process!

Is putting a number on your character age really that important? I have read bushels of novels where a numerical age is never stated…for anyone. Qualitative statments such as “young” “adolescent”, old, greybeard, " a face lined with age" are far more expressive than a mere number.

Wowpedia currently says that Draenei reach physical maturity at around 30 years of age, if you really want to put a number on it. But like someone before me said, it’s best to just keep their age to a vague “Young, adolescent, old” etc. Warcraft writing seldom ever acknowledges character ages in straightforward numbers, so it makes sense to follow their lead.

One might say that the moral here is not “State your age” but “Act your age”.

Unclear. Clearly Lightforging is a ceremony of significance and also currently a dangerous one. I would lean on the side of caution, but there’s no clear number as far as I’m aware.

The Draenei left Argus 25,000 or so years ago and seemingly the split happened then per an interview. Supposedly the Genedar was once one ship that split into the Genedar we know and the Xenedar (the Army of the Light ship) and they went their separate ways immediately. Note, time dilation in the Nether is also a factor to consider.

There’s no clear source if they did or didn’t have births on the Xenedar. However, I don’t think it absurd by any means to conclude they probably did.

Unless it’s important for the purpose of the story you’re telling, it really doesn’t matter. After all we don’t get any details on the lives of Y’Rel and Murad before the Rise of the Horde. And we’re not the less for it because their stories aren’t rooted in the past.

Another thing to note is that they are actively expanding the army of light, based on what they say when you unlock lightforged as well as when you make one. By that strain, you can have a light loving draenei from Azeroth take up their cause and prove themselves worthy enough for the trial. Going through their “boot camp” of sorts and culminating into the trial. So you don’t have to be a Xenedar draenei to accomplish it.

As others have stated, age isn’t super important other than fine tuning a character and what events they have lived through. I like exact numbers more for a personal point of reference just so I know “Hey they were alive for the War of the Ancients”, but I don’t have to have an exact number for it.

My Lightforged is 1,035 years old. My other draenei character is 4000 something.

Wowpedia frequently makes statements based on nothing more than what most people bring here into the forums. So I’d take most of these kinds of pronouncements with a heavy helping of salt. As I’m pretty sure that not even Blizzard has bothered with coming up with numbers.
