How exactly is this going to work, I wonder. Unless they plan to redesign the zones to be gigantic, currently all the Blood Elf zones of Quelthelas combined, (Eversong, Silvermoon, Ghostlands, Zul’Aman) are around the size of one modern zone. It’s possible that all of the Northern Eastern Kingdoms will be included in the update, it’s around the size of the dragon isles and broken isles. It just might be that many zones will be merged together. They could also add in new islands, and underground zones.
No one knows how it’ll work. My assumption is they’ll use the current areas already set up behind Strat and leave the old zones through the portal.
Zidormi gonna be there
They are probably going to expand the current zones to be much larger than they are now, and also add a couple new zones too. I doubt it will resemble the existing zones much.
As an aside, I do hope the Bloodmyst and Azuremyst Isles get similar treatment. Only seems fair that if the Horde TBC zones are getting a facelift the Alliance zones get one too.
They already confirmed that Quel’thalas will no longer be instanced off and will become part of the mainland EK map.
I’d love to see everything from Arathi highlands north redone, and I’m okay if zones get “merged” in the process, as long as the individual areas are retained. For example we don’t need distinct individual “plaguelands” zones if one big zone has each area represented properly.
But this would allow Undercity to be redone, Gilneas to possibly become an actual city, SMC to be redone, give some weight to Arathi Highlands assuming the folks in Hallowfall want to come check things out and visit their ancestral homeland, etc.
- Eversong + Ghostlands
- Eastern + Western Plaguelands
- Tirisfall + Silverpine + Hillsbrad
- Hinterlands + Arathi Highlands
Include some extra areas that we know exist but have never been fleshed out, and that’s four BIG zones, 3 revamped cities (1 alliance, 1 horde, 1 neutral - lookin at you SMC) along with Amani raid, a Sunwell raid, and several dungeons.
I mean, the way the water separates the northern half it makes a lot of sense to do it that way. And then you are a quarter of the way done with an old world revamp, too.
Since the Blood Elf zones are part of the Outland map, not the EK map, I’d suspect they’re going to build entirely new versions of Eversong, Silvermoon, Quel’danas, and Ghostlands that will be part of the EK map and leave the originals alone. Players will be able to reach the original zones by taking portals.
I’m pretty sure they aren’t redoing the leveling zones. Current Quel’thalas is through a portal and those landmasses are on the BC maps.
There’s landmass behind Strat and an unfinished area of Quel’thalas on the EK map right now. They’ll most likely use those.
They aren’t going to delete an entire leveling zone and end game zone for a new expansion. And people have been asking for Quel’thalas to be part of the EK map.
This is the easiest way to do it.
I’m not talking about deleting anything. The old zones would still exist and you can just have Zidormi to send you back and forth.
No need since current Quel’thalas is through a portal and new one will most likely be attached to EK.
Unless Azuremyst and Bloodmyst become part of the story, I don’t see a reason to make a new set of islands.
Azuremyst/Bloodmyst probably won’t happen. It’s just a wishlist thing for me. Guess we’ll see.
This feels like the most logical solution. Then if you need access to the old stuff, there is already a portal. Otherwise you just fly over the mountains with that invisible wall gone and right into the new revamped zones.
I dont think the starter zone wont change since its an instanced area they can have two versions based on the content you are playing.
I hope it’s a total remake of the whole subcontinent of Lordaeron. That’ll include a bigger Capital City, fully remade Gilneas, fully rebuilt Dalaran on its original location, and finally, flying-enabled Quel’thalas attached to the map
Phasing. Lots of phasing. It’s gonna be some scene out of fear and loathing
They actually wouldn’t need any phasing if it’s just a new eastern kingdoms server. Divide up the eastern kingdoms into just 4 or 5 zones. The old cataclysm one would still exist if you want to go back to do old content.
Depending on how player housing works, they may have to do this for Eastern Kingdoms, Northrend, and Kalimdor.
I actually hope just the opposite. The War Within has been heavy alliance side. I am really hoping Midnight is going to be heavy Horde expansion. Let the Alliance play in the horde expansion, since in The War Within I’ve had to play in the Alliance expansion.
I do hope that a world revamp includes stuff that has been added since cataclysm. Pandaren towns, demon hunters, allied race towns, evokers, dracthyr towns.
