Question(s) about the "crafted" Tier 3 sets

So, a couple months ago (last year maybe?) I’d went through and unlocked “Old Naxx”. I remember… killing bosses, I think for a currency to buy random items for a chance to get… incomplete versions of the T3 tokens? Something like that?

I really don’t remember much beyond that. I think I’d gotten the helm and shoulder “incomplete” pieces, but I really don’t remember what the further investment was required to actually make them “usable”. More specifically, if those “token” pieces are even a drop in the bucket, or if there was a literal gold cost required to complete?

For as long as I’ve played (not recently, obviously), I was never someone who hoarded gold. Basic services like repairs and transmog are insanely expensive now, and I’d wager I have somewhere around 200k total across all my characters, which I assume isn’t very much these days?

I remember being committed enough that I’d set all of my characters’ hearthstones near Naxx, however I don’t know whether that’s still actually worth doing, or if the gold cost is truly insane if I should even bother. Would be dope to get the Pally or Warrior sets, but I’m also not one for months-long grinds; I’m fine with some RNG, but I like feeling like I could get lucky and get whatever I need.

Any info and tips would be appreciated!

You’re gonna need a significant account of gold for one thing.

Thanks for the link.

…but oof. 2.8 MILLION gold, just for the vendor mats?!? I suppose it’s to keep the BMAH going, but that’s still pretty painful.
