Questions about server

I’ve decided to play the game again and I haven’t played since pandaria so I want to re roll a new character on a new realm and I always wanted to try an rp realm. I just had a few questions.

  1. What can I expect on an rp realm?
  2. I enjoy over content so on an rp realm do people run raids and stuff or is their just 1 or 2 guilds that do that?
  3. Horde or alliance on this server?
  4. Is this server active or is it a barren server where it’s hard to find items or make money on the ah etc

Thank you for any answers

  1. They are all different from one another pretty much. I will warn you flat out if you decide to go to Moon Guard and Wyrmrest Accord that they have a reputation for toxicity. I’ve heard them called the most toxic servers in WoW. Alliance on MG play Horde on WRA and vice versa.

As far as ED, the RP is what you make of it. Their is RP WPvP here. That means people fighting in Warmode and RPing as they go. You can also look up the various RP guilds as you find them. The server is slowly growing. I would bet that is a mix of people returning now that Dragonflight is on it’s way out along with people getting tired of the toxic atmosphere that’s the foundation of MG and WRA and coming here to get away from that.

  1. What do you mean by over content? Their are RP guilds running raids. I don’t know exactly what you mean, but that does happen yes.

  2. Alliance but I am biased. Hahaha. Honestly right now Horde outnumbers Alliance, but as someone playing Alliance that’s honestly ok by me.

  3. Nope not barren at all. It’s got a healthy population on it. Not to mention the fact that when the expansion hits apparently the AH will use the server cluster tech so that the AH will be multi server, which is nothing but pure gold. No pun intended.

I’m a pretty old school RPG dude. I grew up cutting my teeth on D&D. I played the early MMO’s that came out before UO and EQ were even a think. The best RP that I have found every single time in any mmo’s were the ones that had world PvP on it. I wish I had found this earlier in the game.

Hi there.

I’ve played on ED since the end days of WoD. It’s a very unique realm in that it still tries to hang onto its RP-PvP roots.

Most of the RP stays within the guilds. Open world RP like MG or WRA is non existent here. People have tried over the years and it just never sticks.

PvP is around but the days of organic WPvP have dwindled continuously over the years. The realm will see a surge of activity around the new xpac. How long that lasts is difficult to predict.

My suggestion is for you to roll a couple characters and hang out on Emerald Dream for a while and experience it for yourself.

Cheers

I just came back after a multi-year hiatus, and its not what it was then, but thats the norm across all of the WoW servers. I like it and I’m having fun. My toons were all alliance, and thus I am still alliance. IMO the Horde side still has a stronger remnant of those groups that really made Wpvp so fun here in years past, Warsong Battalion for example is still good for it. I’m sure there are those on the Alliance side that wouldn’t need much prodding to go engage in it too, especially if its coordinated between Alliance and Horde? But I don’t see an equivalent large guild like that on Alliance side atm?

I’m an end game noob since coming back but it does seem there is a very healthy number of players on both sides active and running end game content both PVE and PVP.

In the short time of my return I’ve met far more nice people than jerks. Thats a big positive. I don’t think you could go wrong with either side.

That’s because people are afraid of getting banned. That was first, then came the Social Contract that people had to agree to or they couldn’t play. In alot of ways the social aspect of the game has vastly improved over what it once was. I’m having more fun right now with it than I have had in a long time. Maybe since Lich King when I was PvP happy.
