Questions about relearning Engineering

I abandoned Engineering in Legion in favour of more raid/M+ friendly professions, but now I’d like to go back to Engineering.

I know all of my old recipes are long gone, which is fine, and for some reason Northrend has a profession level requirement to access to the toys like the Wormhole Generator and MOLL-E… but what I can’t seem to find is information on Goblin/Gnomish Engineering. Some recipes still have the requirement, but I’m wondering if I have to relevel classic Engineering again to 225-250 (I think it was?) in order to relearn one of the specializations? Is there even a point to choosing one now, or is it just leftover from when it was a bit more relevant?

Yes, you have to relevel “Classic” Engineering to the low 200s to get the quest for Gnomish/Goblin Engineering. The only real reasons to pick them is for the mounts, (if you haven’t made them), pets, and a couple of portals.

I am sorry to say though that you have to level most of Engineering to get access to most of it’s items. This includes the Loot-a-rang that now requires Cata 70 skill to use. At least as a Hunter, you can get the book for “Fetch”.

Nah, most of the items I ever used only have a requirement of level 1 in Engineering. Northrend has an Engineering requirement of 40 for the wormhole and 50 for MOLL-E, and I assumed I’d have to level Zandalar Engineering to learn that wormhole since it’s still super recent, but everything else, like the old wormholes and Jeeves are only level 1.

Anything else I come across, I suppose I’ll just have to level if it’s something I’ll be using at some point… just wasn’t sure about the Goblin/Gnomish Engineering… thanks for the reply!

Jeeves requires Northrend 75 to use. The Outland portals require Outland 50. The Classic portals require Classic 260. The Goblin Glider tinker requires Pandaria 25 to learn.

Hopefully you kept your Jeeves because otherwise you have to max out Classic, get high up in Outland, and, of course, max out Northrend to make the bots to make it again.

The Kul Tiras/Zandalar Wormholes only require BfA 1 skill to use. However, you don’t get the recipes until 150 BfA skill.

I’m currently trying to find out if I can switch from Goblin to Gnome. There used to be a way, but the map and pc’s are altered now and I can’t find new info. Been all over Tanaris

You can. Open book, and just click unlearn on Goblin. Go to trainer in Org, and he’ll give you a quest for Gnomish… or vice versa. Easy quest via AH.

Thanks I found it about 5 mins ago,

I also tracked down and found the book that no longer works in Tanaris… That’s where all the posts sent me, lol.
