No, don’t worry - it’s not about being “creative” about inappropriate names , I’m just looking for some informations.
I didn’t play Classic for a long time, now 2 of my characters have names that I didn’t gave them. Are the names (like in Retail) “free for all” after a given time? And can I rename the chars, when I log in the next time?
Next question is about Retail: Before warbands the “WTF/Account”-folder had subfolders for each realm and these had subfolders for each char/name to the realm. After warbands the realm subfolders are still there, but now all chars/names appear in each realm.
I have some same-named characters on different realms, can that now be a problem with SavedVars/Addons/etc. or does the game still differentiate between the realms?
“Home” realms contain the actual WTF folders and files. All other realms will populate a “stub” for each non-local character when you log in. There is no data stored there. So if you’re looking to edit character settings, you have to go into the realm they’re on. Hopefully that makes sense.
Edit: To clarify, this is answering the OP’s second question.
Yes, it’s the EU license and yes, I bought and used the 3 name changes for Retail. Got confused with some of the names being the same on 3 realms
The “funny” names I found are on Classic Cata (EU-Lakeshire and EU-Razorfen, I think). But don’t look any further, the only classic char I invested time in is a lvl 40 WL, who just got the mount and is now chilling somewhere
And thanks everybody for answers and insight! Love the good vibes here
